What would be the Fender Telecaster stated out in 1950 as the Broad caster, then the "nocaster", then in 52 the Telecaster, '53 the Les Paul Goldtop with P90s, and 1954 the Statocaster, also when the Stratofortress came out. PAF (patent applied for ) Seth Lover humbuckers came out in 1957 with Buddy Holly really making the strat a rock and roll machine. So Gibson came out with the Flying V, Explorer and Moderne (which didn't make it), but the Les Paul with PAFs started to finally take off.
Meanwhile us little kids were stuck with garbage cowboy acoustics, Davy Crockett "coonskin" hats, and Red Rider BB guns we got into trouble with.
We got our first TV in 1957, and our door to door salesman set of Encyclopedia Britannica, which I read completely. Old movies and Sky King and the Whirlybirds, Bugs Bunny and Rocket J. Squirrel, and the wonder of the first big screen movie I saw, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". The Blue Angels in their Korean War fighters, tree forts, and learning to swim well.
Then In 1959, my first chemistry set and record player.......
Most dreamed of going to Disneyland, but I really got to go. It was a magic time. We first went to California(LA, before smog) from Minneapolis in 1957 by Lockheed Constellation, then in 1958 by train down through Texas and Arizona with the Vistadome.
Every kid that got to go to Disneyland, and later Disneyworld, too, had a magic time. I think they still do.
