I feel very strongly about the usage of non green energy usage that can be replaced by solar power. Solar power is one of the cleanest, versatile and most viable forms of renewable energy available. Solar Power uses solar panels to turn sun light into electricity. You can then use this solar electricity to charge your phone or to power your entire house. Solar energy is a great way to reduce your environmental impact and save money as well. We have all your solar power & energy needs covered from solar panels and accessories to solar power installations and portable solar chargers.

Switching to solar power is a wise and positive decision that we are making towards protecting our environment. You can find information on the net on how to choose a solar electric system, guide on panels, inverters, batteries and contracts. Overall, it gives you all options necessary to build a safe and non-toxic home for you and the environment. For more details, check this site:

The two things I would add to solar as a power source that are often overlooked are:

- if you are using the solar for heat, it is best to keep it as heat and thus store it as heat.

- by storing room temperatures in a large volume of dirt, heating and cooling needs can be provided without solar (just store summer temperatures for winter use and vice versa or day temperatures for night and vice versa) and this frees up a lot of south exposure for use in higher temperature solar (cooking , hot water) and solar cells but also for greenhouse use as greenhouse food production eliminates a lot of transport and farming and processing energies as well as a lot of packaging and trash related energies.

I have been on solar power, totally off the grid, for 11 years now. I sacrifice some on cloudy days, but it is sunny most of the time. Flat screen TV and computer monitor, big guitar amps being played loud, a passive solar Earthship greenhouse still gives me vegetables year around.
My solar paid for itself 5 years ago, because I had the good sense to do it myself, and I live in an area of 5 hours minimum winter sun.
I have not been to this forum for a while because I lost everything in a computer crash last summer. Finally, I was directed by an email to theenvironmentsite.org (full of AGW denialists) and finally back here where it seems better than before. It is nice to be at a place where AGW and OP denialists are not butting in and over-posting to ruin threads. I do see a few getting away with off topic joking around where it doesn't belong. Still, great threads on pertinent environmental topics. =D>

I've read somewhere that It takes an area about the size of 9% of the state of Nevada to supply all of the energy demands in the U.S. A drwback is that it's only producing electricity during the day but still it's quite amazing! I agree with you that we can live off the sun instead of oil and coal.

Spammer just had to throw in your * online link. That's all an overpopulated world needs is more lust, more pharmaceuticals in the waterways...can't get a real job so you've got to Spam?

How about more people getting involved with do it yourself solar power, and getting rid of the wasteful grid.

Solar power has more disadvantages than positive traits. Moreover, it is ineffective in many ways.

Another no intro. If we "finish the fossil reserves" it will destroy the planetary ecology. See the documentary "Blind Spot". :-({|=

Hi, I was just curious to know that what about in heavy rainfall and snowing days. How the solar panels companies manages to save their solar mirror. I am using solar panel Colorado services but I put a cover on my solar mirror so it will be save from heavy rain and snow. But big solar panels companies who generate electricity they set up their plant in open , can you tell how they save them.

The primary source of existence as considered by many of our own ancestors and forefathers during the past several ages were impacted by the energy coming from the sun. As the seasons went by, the folks became aware that the power arising from the sun could be transformed into a far better and more beneficial kind of energy. The advancement of current technology has made us conscious that Solar energy has recently grown to be an alternative supplier of electricity.

Our economic issues were somewhat relieved with the invention of this solar panel. It is for these grounds that many people around the community are persuaded to learn how to make a Solar Panel at home.

It is great to know that anyone can be effective in understanding the methods on how to make a Solar Panel at home seeing that it is essentially stress-free and not demanding at all. Only then can you start working with the system upon obtaining all the necessary equipments just like a converter, conductor wires, battery, solar plates, photovoltaic cells as well as semi conductor block. In fact, they can be purchased from any hardware establishments nationwide. There are also in depth DIY guidelines provided for you below to follow.

Primarily, the photovoltaic cells and the solar plates are joined together but you should be sure to set the solar plates on top of the photovoltaic cells. It is also extremely important to robustly tie with wires the 2 edges of the solar plate and photovoltaic cells.

The next task is to put the semi conductor block on the bottom of the solar plate and photovoltaic cells and connect them with conductor wires.

The next move would be to put the plate facing the sun to allow it to acquire the energy but this is achieved only once you have tightly tied up the plates with the cell and semiconductor block.

The fourth stage should be to install the converter because this is actually responsible in filtering the energy and removing the non electronic components. It is essential that the changed energy should only comprise of electrons.

No intro, old post, trying to sell the DVD/booklet package for home building of non-UL Approved solar panels. Sorry, most places require UL Approved to pass inspection. A scam, when Approved panels cost about what it costs to make a decent one anyway.
