It should be up to the States on what is to be done with lands within their own boundaries, not the Federal Gov't.

Of course, it is federal land....Which seems to mean big oil's land.....something the GOP is well keyed in on.

A long time GOP theme: WHEN IN DOUBT, DO THE THING THAT MAKES YOU THE MOST MONEY.

The states should have control of lands they do not own? Kind of an unusual position for some .... Maybe the states should have to buy the land before they can make that decision.

It is also funny that the states in question are in existence solely due to the actions of the federal government and federal taxes paid by other states ... yet they are now to be excluded from such decisions.

Unusual? Maybe. I just don't think the Feds should own land. Especially when they own over 50% of the whole State!

So, sure, the States should buy the land back from the Federal Gov't......for the same price they bought them for. Take it via eminent domain...they have lots of experience doing that ;-)

I have seen the trashed out places that need to be cleaned up in western Colorado and Utah. I have seen were the bastards have ruined people's homes and wells with drilling in this state which gives mineral/energy profits on your land to drillers. I have been to the beauty of the National Parks in Utah, and would hate to see the views ruined by drilling rigs that have ruined so many places already. Searching for more fossil fuel to cause more global warming when we should be going to the newest technology nuclear waste using nukes and electric/hybrid vehicles, and solar/wind independent homes.
I am a Theodore Roosevelt style real Republican, not like the asswipes who are in the pocket of big business and not enforcing our immigration laws---the fines from which would pay off the National Debt!!! They aren't really fiscal conservatives or conservationists, and have not upheld the Constitution's Article 4 Section 4, according to their sworn oaths since Eisenhower.
They are the "Country Club" RINOs, some of which hide under the "tea party banner" until they took office and got indoctrinated into corrupt Washington politics.
The Democrats hijacked TR's green policies as their own, and the real Republicans should take it back, along with enforcing our laws and borders, protecting our Constitutional Rights, upholding the Constitution and the Amendments real meaning with the founders' intentions, balanced budget, paying off debt, conserving out resources and National treasures like the Parks and forests and wild lands.

Considering the state probably bought little of the land it owns why should the federal government give the land to the state?



Buy it back? The federal government owned the land before there was a state, so how do you get the "back" aspect?



Adjusted for inflation and any improvements, of course, and what of the interest for the tax monies invested?



The state has no such domain over the federal government though.
