New research suggests that while the global land based carbon sink remained relatively stable from 1990- 2007, the contribution from tropical forests was virtually offset by deforestation during this period. It appears that tropical forests shrank by nearly 8% during the study period. Blue skies thinking on strategies to halt tropical deforestation is clearly needed. see: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/integra ... 261na5.pdf
