We may all know that food contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, but did you know that for Finns, daily food may constitute as much as 15-20% of their daily GHG emissions?
Most food-based GHG emissions come from agricultural production and nitrous oxide constitutes around 50% of food based GHG emissions. The study conculdes that food may be responsible for 14% of Finland's climate change impacts. see: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/integra ... 268na1.pdf

Interesting, but I am more interested in the other 86%. Fossil fuel burning, garbage, and wood burning. How overpopulated are they??
The USA is at least 4 times max long term sustainable, what is Finland at?? Are they letting in low IQ overbreeders and loco religions overbreeders like us and so many others? [-( =;

Are you not, by now, wondering why so few people actually repond to your posts? You seem to be a "one-trick-pony". It's all about those "other" people who make too many babies, isn't it? And those 'overbreeders' who are taking over the US, Canada, and now .... Finland.

You don't seem to get it (if I may speak boldly). The Earth does not recognize boundaries Johnny. You are so concerned about the environment, but the environment does not end and begin within political boundaries which are man made. You are thinking in terms of nations ..... but that thinking has grown old because it's an old paradigm. If we cannot save the Earth, there is no way we can save the US.

You are special and unique ..... but so is everyone else.

I have seen two fairly thorough studies on the environmental impacts of food production. One estimated that 72% of energy used by people in the UK was directly or indirectly connected with human food (including production, processing, storage, transportation, packaging, commercial distribution, consumer traffic, cooking, waste disposal). The other was to do with energy use but restricted to fuels and a part of the USA and it's number was 68%. Make your own food and most of that stuff is eliminated. Eat raw fresh foods and you can eliminate much of the rest of those energy costs. Energy use is directly proportional to greenhouse gas production as long as electricity is still mostly made with coal and natural gas.
