"Report: Great Lakes winter ice cover has decreased 71 percent since 1973
Published 03/10/2012, Duluth News Tribune
The average amount of ice covering the Great Lakes declined 71 percent over the past 40 winters, with Lake Superior ice down 79 percent, according to a report published by the American Meteorological Society."
Having grown up in MN and gone to the U of M, this is quite substantial change and great proof of AGW(even though denialists like that snowy character will pretend it is natural). I also have read that the lakes have been drawn down substantially from increased demand for fresh water well over the replenishment rate.
My friends report their garden growing season has increased a full month, and winters have been much less severe. The summers are unbearably hot in Mpls.
Up here, this year, today, the first robins came---a full two months ahead of schedule, and the past three years the pine beetles have had two broods of eggs instead of one. Not good change here, including the increase in fires, the fire season, and area burned according to CO foresters.
Local temporary benefits from AGW were one reason I moved up in altitude, and went all solar in 1997. The end result of others not following suit with emissions reductions and going to a one child family (like we did in 1988), is eventual malevolent climate change over most of the planet.
I really doubt that enough will ever be done, in time, to prevent the train wrecks coming(thanks to the deniglicals, as you call them).
