I remember the old treehugger forum. Sustainable development is an oxymoron in this age of overshoot.
I don't like the general UN take-over scenario. I don't like globalization, or NAFTA, or the invasion by Mexico.
I do like the idea of population quality and quantity control and reducing fossil fuel emissions 90% by 2020 to try to prevent runaway methane turnover. I like the idea of thinking globally, and acting locally, but I am Nationalist American to the core.
I can't see banning sustainability itself, and things that will help reach that goal. Replenish the Earth is tantamount to a command from God in Genesis. That means put back the equivalent of what you took out and don't pollute faster than the biosphere can absorb it or you can clean it up. If people obeyed this commandment, depletion rates would equal replenishment, regeneration, and recharge rates. Pollution would equal absorption rates and the atmosphere would be back to 275ppm of CO2. I would like that, and future generations would definitely like that, if they had a voice in our conscience like they should for any moral person.
I already live a low carbon lifestyle and had only one child, but no one is going to take away my freedom, property, or my guns.
