This was on the BBC News tonight.

Scientists monitoring the ice in the Arctic region report the Arctic ice is melting at quote "an amazing speed".

From what I've read previously, the Arctic sea ice minimum usually occurs in mid-September, so we still have another week of melting left for this year.

All these shifting weather patterns have very serious implications for agriculture and wildlife.

The wheat harvest here in England has taken a big hit due to the amount of rain we had this year. I understand the corn harverst in America has taken a big hit also, though this time due to drought.

It isn't just the Arctic, the Alps in central Europe are also being seriously effected
