Tacking on coarse instrumental temperature data onto smoothed paleoclimate data reconstructions is not a valid method of confirming Mann's Hockey stick. That was one of the problems with the Mann's method. Even Moberg shows a Medieval warm period - Mann's does not. That hardly reproduces Mann's results. Besides where are the error bars? Do you really think the error bars will not show a big difference between the data splice. This seems to be a problem with many of the Hockey stick reconstructions. There is very little difference between Mobergs modern proxy temperatures and the medieval warm period.

And what of that Marcott Hockey Stick? Nothing to say about Marcott's walk back from his previous claims that the last 100 years have increased in temperature as much as the last 7-8000 have cooled. He now claims that the 20th century portion of his reconstruction is not 'robust'. In other words, it's meaningless.
