Post subject:  The expanding troop is riding!!!

Can you hear the loud and not too distant hoof-beats of the approaching strong force? :shh: Not just the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse but a troop or more instead. Riding, riding..... guns, swords, spears, armor, knives, Mongol bows and sharp horse armor. First at a fast walk, then a trot, and faster toward a full on galloping charge. A mere troop of them stronger and more impervious than hundreds of times all the human soldiers, airmen, seamen, queer service "people" and idiotic commanders up high. :problem:
Waiting too long and not doing enough will cause rapidly warming conditions from crossing first the open ocean warming tipping point (1, considered passed), then the tundra methane tipping point (2), then ocean CH4 deposits "turnover"(3), and oceanic and land self release of CO2(4).
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a way. Other ones for the population crash of mid-century include starvation from CAGW crop effects(5), malnutrition(6) and lowered immunity with more disease(7), aquifers and other sources of pure water either run dry(8) or polluted to poison(9). Add in human behavior under stress, and desperation; wars(10) and cannibalism(11), thievery(12) and viscous murder(13), anarchy and gangsterism(14), rape and pillage(15), poaching(16) and more human waste pollution(17). And the relentless growing heat with climate fluctuation and "change"(18) and increasing species extinctions(20). Ecosystem failures(21), and soil pollution/depletion (22). Plus we can not forget the loss and toxicity of the lakes, seas, and oceans fisheries(23), continued slash and burn and deforestation(24).
A troop of viscous unfeeling unmerciful immensely strong well armed cavalry. With more riding in and joining. The stench of death and destruction in their wake of passage across the regions and countries over a period of 20+ years of 400 million deaths per year. Horror beyond horror, suffering beyond suffering, misery beyond misery, even for eco-people that didn't cause much of it and many that caused none of it, punished just the same, but probably allowed everlasting life in the real Heaven.
A song that used to be for me, my nickname at Ft. Rucker in the late spring/summer/early fall of 1968. Eric Burdon and the New Animals; In the morning they (the survivors) returned with tears in their eyes. The stench of death was up to the skies. Sky Pilot. Sky Pilot. How high can you fly? " I reached the sky 5 thousand times, and even more bullets and other weaponry coming at my crew, ship, and I. Duplicating my heroes in the Flying Tigers of WWII, except saving 2,700 (of numerous races, civilians, soldiers, sailors, too, Babies to old people) instead of killing. =D> =D> =D> =D> But I am the bad guy to some, especially the business as usual types or people that care more about a few animals than millions of entire species of plants, animals and fungi. Over tolerant, over-compassionate ones who don't seem to know how to think in bigger terms or ahead in time.
The stench of death 2045 to 2075 and longer, then the stench of more death in the heat, as species accelerate in death to the last member by 2500AD or so. The stench of rotting garbage, the rotting oceans, the wild fires, and unwashed people, and untreated excrement, all on the way and existing now in many places.
"He's there to help them, all that he can. If it all was worth it only in time will it tell...... Sky Pilot, Sky Pilot....." Great guitar work and sounds. I have reached out and touched the face of God, my friend, father, with strength, guidance,....... and love, both ways. Gratitude from me. I hope that I have helped more than those I know, and either me or my spirit in the front lines battling those deadly evil horsemen and their henchmen and supporters. When I was young, I thought people, in all their highest life form on Earth glory, would never let anything like that happen. Meteors moved to not collide, birthrate and survival controlled to sustainable and a naturally evolving like before there were towns and mass agriculture. Before the black evil of coal and oil were ignored for greedy profit regardless of bad consequences down the road.:x  \:D/ 8)

Riding, riding, riding. The sound of distant hoof beats getting louder. Sushi's industrial collapse, the population crash, and finally extinction in AETM. Rawhide!!!! Fading radio and TV waves spreading out. A dead civilization's memories.  :-k O:)
Really known even prior ; 2003
From The "HOLMESTEAD", Georgian Bay, Huronia, Ontario, Canada , 2003;
"11. Why all the secrecy?

Due to the severity of the situation it is mandatory to maintain public calm for as long as possible. The Earth is dying. Humanity is on the road to extinction - without the Shield mankind will die off with in 20 to 50 years. Most people alive today could live to see this extinction take place. This means that an announcement of the situation we face boils down to telling every man, woman and child on earth that they have no future, they are going to be killed. People would panic. There would be economic collapse, the production and movement of goods would collapse. Millions would die in all cities on earth, riots and violence would reduce civilian centers to rubble within days. Half of the population in dense metropolitan areas would try to leave the cities seeking 'safety' in the rural areas thinking that they would be safe. Those left behind in the cities would be at war with their neighbors, fighting for the remaining supplies. We would be telling the world that the world is coming to an end, and even with the Shield the chances of survival are small.

UV Summer and Global Warming are the immediate problems we face, there are far greater problems that are raising their ugly heads and will present new problems which in some cases have no viable solutions at this time. Ecologies are collapsing. The extinction rate of species is climbing. The amount of chemical pollutants in the water and soil are fast approaching and in many places has surpassed the earth's ability to heal itself. Crop failure is on the rise, even in the USA the returns on crops are smaller than they were 10 years ago. Even with the advances in genetically altered food crops, we are falling behind in our ability to produce enough to go around. Throughout the 20th century chemical fertilizers and pesticides were used to insure the best yields. Unfortunately many of these have contaminated ground water, killed beneficial insects along with the undesirable insects. These chemicals have gotten into the food chain and are affected other species besides mankind. It is only a matter of years before famine spreads like a cancer throughout the world.

Clean fresh water is in short supply, in many places well water is non-potable, containing the run off of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers that have been used on crops and lawns. The water treatment facilities we have are unable to scrub out all of the toxins we have placed in the soil and water supply. Many of the toxins we find build up over time in the body, a long slow poisoning which has been making its presence felt in many areas of the world in the form of cancers, leukemia, sterility, birth defects, learning disorders, immune deficiency problems, etc. These are on the rise, any good researcher can find the records. For decades there was public outcry for the end to pollution. For every small step we made to clean up our production, millions where born who added to the problem. Yes, pollution is down per individual, however there are a couple more billion individuals producing pollution, thus the real numbers have an increase in over all pollution produced. Name a city that does not have problems with smog. You would be hard pressed to find one. Though smog controls on automobiles is higher than ever before, the number of autos on the road has increased thus the amount of smog producing pollutants is higher than ever before. All the clean air acts passed to curb individual factory and auto emissions did not address the production of more factories and more autos. Here an uneasy compromise was made between the need to maintain the economy against the need to maintain the ecology. The ecology lost since it was estimated to be a problem decades from now. The economy was a problem that would have dire effects today.

All of these factors combined have produced a scenario that in shorts boils down to the end of the world in 50 to 75 years. Even if we were to stop all emissions of pollution today, the inertia of past decades is enough to carry us over the brink in 100 years. However we cannot stop the production of pollution, to do so would mean shutting down every factory, every auto, every train, truck, ship and every household on the planet. Electricity is used to heat many homes in the Western World. The production of electricity produces fewer pollutants than heating all homes with wood or coal. Cutting our power generation abilities down to hydroelectric and fission reactors would leave a good chunk of the world in the dark. It is an impossible situation, our civilization is geared to the use of energy, take away our energy and civilization will collapse." 'Deep Shield" informant, killed later.

"Quote of the Week

Even today, "there is some degree of uncertainty about natural variability," acknowledged Mark McCaffrey, programs and policy director of the National Center for Science Education based in Oakland, Calif. "If it weren't for the fact that humans had become a force of nature, we would be slipping back into an ice age, according to orbital cycles."

But earth's glacial rhythms are "being overridden by human activities, especially burning fossil fuels," McCaffrey noted. The stories about global cooling "are convenient for people to trot out and wave around," he said, but they miss the point:

"What's clear is we are a force of nature. Human activity – the burning of fossil fuels and land change – is having a massive influence. We are in the midst of this giant geoengineering experiment."

Peraluminous igneous rocks as an indicator of thermogenic methane release from the North Atlantic Volcanic Province at the time of the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM)

Michael R. Rampino

"Unusual cordierite-bearing peraluminous dacites, produced by melting of organic-rich sediments by intrusion of basaltic magma, are found within the North Atlantic Volcanic Province (NAVP). Calculations suggest that formation of the dacites, radiometric dated at 55.9 ± 0.3 Ma and possibly widespread, could have released an average of ∼4,500 Gt (range from 3,000 to 6,000 Gt) of carbon as methane, with a δ13C of about −35‰. Published model results suggest that such a methane release could explain the negative δ13C excursion in the oceans and atmosphere, the extreme global warming, and the marked dissolution of carbonates in the deep oceans that accompanied the concurrent Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM). Outgassing from melting of sediments and formation of dacites, possibly in conjunction with methane produced in contact metamorphic aureoles and by methane hydrate release, provides a novel way of explaining the PETM and its timing."

Alarming new study makes today’s climate change more comparable to Earth’s worst mass extinction
Posted on 2 April 2014 by howardlee

The Permian Mass Extinction 251.9 million years ago, otherwise known as “The Great Dying,” was the closest this planet has come to extinguishing all complex life on Earth. Around 90% of all species died out in this single event, a worse toll even than the Cretaceous extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs.

For years the cause of the Permian Mass Extinction has been linked to massive volcanic eruptions in Siberia. Volcanic CO2 and a cocktail of noxious gasses combined with burning coal and geothermally-baked methane emissions to enact a combination of toxic effects and, most importantly, ocean acidification and global warming. It led to a world where equatorial regions and the tropics were too hot for complex life to survive. That’s a fact so astonishing it bears repeating: global warming led to a large portion of planet Earth being lethally hot on land and in the oceans! The cascading extinctions in ecosystems across the planet unfolded over 61,000 years, and it took 10 million years for the planet to recover! For comparison, our distant ancestors separated from apes only 7 million years ago.

Until recently the scale of the Permian Mass Extinction was seen as just too massive, its duration far too long, and dating too imprecise for a sensible comparison to be made with today’s climate change. No longer.

In “High-precision timeline for Earth’s most severe extinction,” published in PNAS on February 10, authors Seth Burgess, Samuel Bowring, and Shu-zhong Shen employed new dating techniques on Permian-Triassic rocks in China, bringing unprecedented precision to our understanding of the event. They have dramatically shortened the timeframe for the initial carbon emissions that triggered the mass extinction from roughly 150,000 years to between 2,100 and 18,800 years. This new timeframe is crucial because it brings the timescale of the Permian Extinction event’s carbon emissions shorter by two orders of magnitude, into the ballpark of human emission rates for the first time."

Figure it out yourself----If you can:

This is not something to take lightly or go business as usual anymore.
If the reductions are not enough, it may buy a small amount of time, or it may not. Some think we have passed those tipping points already or will with the "momentum of .8*C" that it will warm even with total stop of HGHGs. The studies above give us some time, which I hope we have.
Perhaps, it is that people in general, and people in charge and corporate people, just do not understand what it means.
I will tell you what it means;
Once these tipping points of positive feedback loops are established, nothing humanity can do will be able to reverse a course of warming that will end up causing the extinction of 85 to 90% of all species in the biosphere, including our own. The warming is accelerating past 40 times more than the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum and accelerating past 20 times as fast.
The mechanisms of the PETM were thousands of years of increased vulcanism causing higher CO2 levels, and seismic events leading to massive methane hydrate releases. The mechanism of this new "AETM" are human overpopulation and burning both fossil fuels(70%) and from agriculture(30%), leading to tundra methane self release, open ocean self warming, and atmospheric warming from the tundra methane adding to the ocean warming to self release of methane hydrates at increasing depths until "turnover". There is 20% more CH4 now than PETM.
The time to resequester all this carbon will take longer than the 180K years PETM took, and the recovery of the diversity and number of life species will take more than the 2 million years it took after the 30% ELE of PETM. Probably 3 million years or more.
It is very serious to cause our own extinction by insufficient action while there is still time. It is the most important thing we, as a species, can do, to lower emissions 90% within 3 years or a decade. It means sacrifice, and a period of harsh times, until our habits and numbers have changed to sustainable.
It means business NOT as usual, lowering standards of living, massive efforts to replace fossil fuels with non emissions power, localizing food production, massive reduction in births and increase in deaths, stopping jet travel, stopping all except sails on the oceans, seas, and waterways, going to manual labor farming, stopping emissions producing manufacturing, electric cars and hybrids only, no more slash and burn farming allowed, and more.
I don't know how all this will be done, but it must if we are to prevent ecocide. Time is of the essence. We already have had 1/20th the footprint for over a decade, and had only one child, practicing the 3 Rs, and growing some of our own food. We need to grow more, and everyone needs to do the same.
Lower your footprints, lower your breeding rate, go to non-emissions power, and only light travel by hybrid or electric vehicles, stop being greedy and selfish, and think about all the other life we need, and this biosphere we need. Those future generations of human and other life are more important than we are.

The Arctic Atmospheric 'Methane Global Warming Veil'. Its Origin in the Arctic Subsea and Mantle
and the Timing of the Global Terminal Extinction Events by 2040 to 2050

By Malcolm P.R. Light, Harold Hensel and Sam Carana
June 8th, 2014
"If only a few percent of the subsea methane hydrate reserves in the Arctic Ocean (some 1000 billion tons of Carbon) is dissociated and the methane is released into the atmosphere, it will cause total deglaciation and a major extinction event (Light and Solana 2002). The energy necessary to produce these Arctic methane release rates is relatively small; it requires only about one thousandth of the heat energy input from the Gulf Stream to dissociate the methane hydrates (Figure 30). Furthermore, the energy necessary to produce these Arctic methane release rates represents less than one millionth of the global warming heat energy being added to the oceans, ice, land and atmosphere by human fossil fuel burning (Figure 30). Unfortunately for us, global warming has heated up the oceanic currents fed by the Gulf Stream flowing into the Arctic, causing massive destabilization of the subsea methane hydrates and fault seals and releasing increasing volumes of methane directly into the atmosphere. The total human induced global warming is equivalent to 4 Hiroshima atomic bombs detonating every second (Nuccitelli et al. 2012). Humanity has signed its death warrant and our final extinction will be carried out by Mother Earth within the next 30 to 40 years unless we immediately take extremely drastic action to entirely curb our carbon dioxide pollution, eliminate large quantities of methane from the subsea Arctic Ocean, seawater and atmosphere (down to ca 673 - 700 ppm) and revert completely to renewable energy.....
The volume transport of the Gulf Stream has increased by three times since the 1940s due to the rising atmospheric pressure difference set up between the polluted, greenhouse gas rich air above North America and the marine Atlantic air. The increasingly heated Gulf Stream, with its associated high winds and energy-rich weather systems, flows NE to Europe where it recently pummelled Great Britain and Europe with catastrophic storms. Other branches of the Gulf Stream then enter the Arctic and heat up the Arctic methane hydrate seals on subsea and deep high-pressure mantle methane reservoirs below the Eurasian Basin-Laptev Sea transition. This is releasing increasing amounts of methane into the atmosphere producing anomalous temperatures, greater than 20°C above average. Over very short time periods of a few days to a few months the atmospheric methane has a global warming potential from 1000 to 100 times that of carbon dioxide (Light 2012 - 2014; Carana 2012 - 2014).

The whole northern hemisphere is now covered by a thickening atmospheric methane veil that is spreading southwards at about 1 km a day and it already totally envelopes the United States. A giant hole in the equatorial ozone layer has also been discovered in the west Pacific, which acts like an elevator transferring methane from lower altitudes to the stratosphere, where it already forms a dense equatorial global warming stratospheric band that is spreading into the Polar regions. The spreading atmospheric methane global warming veil is raising the temperature of the lower atmosphere many times faster than carbon dioxide does, causing the extreme summer temperatures in Australia and the United States. The front of the expanding 1850 ppb Arctic Atmospheric Mantle Methane Global Warming Veil has passed the northern border of the Gulf Coast and is moving south at about 1 km a day and it should totally envelope the Earth by 2048 (Light 2014). Much of this methane is coming from the subsea extreme methane emission zone (Enrico Anomaly) at the transition from the Eurasian Basin to the Laptev Sea which is sourced at an estimated depth of some 112 km in the upper asthenosphere in the Earths mantle (Light 2014).
The United States and Canada must cut their global emissions of carbon dioxide by 80% to 90% in the next 10 to 15 years, otherwise they will be become an instrument of mass destruction of the Earth and its entire human population. Recovery of the United States economy from the financial crisis has been very stupidly based by the present administration on an extremely hazardous "all of the above" energy policy that has allowed continent wide gas fracking, coal and oil sand mining and the return of widespread oil drilling to the Gulf Coast. This large amount of fossil fuel has to be transported and sold which has caused extensive spills, explosions and confrontations with United States citizens over fracking and the Keystone XL pipeline.
The United States and Canada must now cease all their fossil fuel extraction and go entirely onto renewable energy in the next 10 to 15 years otherwise they will be guilty of planetary ecocide - genocide by the 2050s"
There are numerous charts and graphs as you scroll down.

Urgent Message to Governments from the Arctic Methane Emergency Group, AMEG

AMEG’s Declaration

Governments must get a grip on a situation which IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has ignored. A strategy of mitigation and adaptation is doomed to fail. It will be impossible to adapt to the worst consequences of global warming, as IPCC suggests.

The Arctic must be cooled, ASAP, to prevent the sea ice disappearing with disastrous global consequences. Rapid warming in the Arctic, as sea ice retreats, has already disrupted the jet stream. The resulting escalation in weather extremes is causing a food crisis which must be addressed before the existing conflicts in Asia and Africa spread more widely."

Maybe, if it blows it will naturally reduce population to <1% and stop and reverse CAGW, with return to ice age beginning! "ONLY" a 40% extinction or so, and humans get to try again next interglacial!!!

Post subject:  Re: The expanding troop is riding!!!

People will take anything free and use it to death, kind of like the biosphere.
Alternative/non-emissions energy systems could power the world, ships, farms, factories, houses and transport.
The mass farming and transport in food distribution has to go to lower powered equipment and localized for all nutritional needs, especially anti-oxidants. No more big diesels and jets, except maybe for emergency and training can be done with solar powered simulators. Aviation could still have solar gliders and dirigibles. Travel and vacationing will have to be low emissions only.
Foundries would have to go to solar thermal. Other depleting resources like soil can be rebuilt relatively fast, and water can be recycled unless it is full of too many toxins. Dealing with all the toxins and pollution will take thousands of years and millions of people to recycle, re-use, or destroy cleanly.
People must be convinced to not have any kids for 20 years then one only until a balance is achieved.
Tech to resequester CO2 and clean up other gases, should be worked on.
Certainly a new way of looking at nature and our part in it is needed, with cultural and religious changes to lessen dramatically those negative habits like greed and over-breeding, and gov't help to make those in the future smarter, or at least able to see ahead and understand and live sustainably.
Then we run up against big money evil, and human inertia or resistance to change. We also run up against a very tight schedule to accomplish all of this. Is it 6 years or 9? Could we have longer, please? Is it hopeful, or delusion, to think we can overcome such formidable logistics? Those of faith pray for God's help, and that does help on an individual basis.
Those of us who have been around and are older, see hope, and the reality that the majority just can not get it.
We can help people like that until we are broke, but feel good we changed some of them.
We can continue fighting big oil and coal, fracking, and other polluters/depleters, greenwashers, and corrupt politicians, because it is the right thing to do. So is continuing to educate others on going green, the realities of AGW, depletion, and pollution.
That is a delicate thing, because many can not understand or do not want to look at some aspects, like the result of doing not enough in time.

'Al Gore thinks there’s hope for humanity after all'

"In the current rolling debate over whether we’re already the walking dead, given our presumptive too little, too late actions on climate change, Al Gore is boldly predicting victory in the latest issue of Rolling Stone."

Presuming people will not do enough in time is an easy conclusion when you have been around long enough and know psychology, greed, stupidity, and lust to over-reproduce. We may have 2 years, 6 years, 9 years or more, depending on which model you use. 90% of 2000 level reduction by 2024, or the 80% reduction by 2040 by the IPCC which was so conservative and not reality.
I reduced my footprint to 1/20th average American, and it wasn't that hard----for me. For the average lazy dumb sub-human fatso? Good luck!

The Giant Methane Monster Is Lurking

Thom Hartmann | July 7, 2014 8:22 am | Comments

"There’s something lurking deep under the frozen Arctic Ocean, and if it gets released, it could spell disaster for our planet.
That something is methane.
We have a chance right now to keep the giant methane monster that’s lurking under the Arctic Ocean right where it is, and save our planet in the process.

Methane is one of the strongest of the natural greenhouse gases, about 80 times more potent than CO2, and while it may not get as much attention as its cousin CO2, it certainly can do as much, if not more, damage to our planet.

That’s because methane is a far more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, and there are trillions of tons of it embedded in a kind of ice slurry called methane hydrate or methane clathrate crystals in the Arctic and in the seas around the continental shelves all around the world.

If enough of this methane is released quickly enough, it won’t just produce the same old global warming.

It could produce an extinction of species on a wide scale, an extinction that could even include the human race.

If there is a “ticking time bomb” on our planet that could lead to a global warming so rapid and sudden that we would have no way of dealing with it, it’s methane.

Right now, estimates suggest that there’s more than 1,000 gigatons—that’s a thousand billion tons—of carbon in methane form trapped just under the Arctic ice. And if stays trapped under the ice, we might have a chance.

But, thanks to the global warming that’s already occurring, Arctic sea ice is melting at unprecedented rates.

In fact, as Gaius Publius points out over at America Blog, just about every reputable projection on the loss of Arctic sea ice has been wrong in a very, very bad way.

The lack of sea ice cover in the Arctic that we’re seeing today wasn’t supposed to happen for 20+ more years according to 13 of the most accurate models.

As all that sea ice melts, the Arctic ice which once reflected sunlight and prevented global warming, becomes a very blue ocean that absorbs heat and causes even more melting.

And this all means that more and more methane is being released into the atmosphere much faster than expected, speeding up the process of global warming and climate change.

It’s all one big and vicious cycle, called a “positive feedback loop,” something that can spiral out of balance and control very quickly.

But here’s where it gets really scary." .......
The Giant Methane Monster Is Lurking | EcoWatch

I have echoed the warning from 2009, since 2009. FIVE years where it was known that this extreme danger from human emissions.
Now, we only have 9 years to reduce HGHGs 90% (most likely impossible).
The only way out of an extinction disaster is another catastrophe---a super volcanic eruption. IMEEO
