Hard to know where to begin with this. Let's start with the implication that using a woodburning stove is a "middle class" fad. Anyone want to comment on that? Or what about the implication that these so-called middle class people think they are above the law? Or at any rate they must think it's okay to go into a nature reserve and start cutting down trees with a chainsaw... From a selfish point of view, I suppose I should be thinking there's "no such thing as bad publicity". But I hasten to add that, as stove retailers, we don't condone - and in fact resolutely discourage - the theft of wood from nature reserves. It's come to something if we have to spell that out. Well, this is the environmental issues section. I don't see anything except the depletion of forests from human overpopulation, although unmentioned. The economic effects hit first, making stealing resources a problem. Of course, some subsidized corporations are doing the same--"legally". More and more "middle class" can not afford wood, but many rich who can, do it just for looks with their inefficient fireplaces. It all adds to HGHG emissions . |
