Looks like a really old quote. However, the biosphere is turning into an "insecure and inhospitable place." Slowly, then faster and faster.
There are thoughts and ideas, but nothing real that will stop this freight train to disaster on a planetary scale. People will not do enough in time.

Well, here it is months later and miltie doesn't respond to this post and continues on basically off his own subject, which is name calling and insulting by implying environmentalists/ecologists/conservationists are mentally ill.

EU is full of "Hopium". We are in runaway, and now it is unstoppable without instant change, which, of course, is impossible.
The most inaccuracies were because of over conservatism. For 20 years that should have been used to reduce emissions extremely, the direction has been worse than the worst case scenarios.
The change should have been to lower population back in the late 1960s, and we would have if it weren't for stupidity, greed, and the growth only welfare economy forced by LBJ.
We are on a 'rocket ride' to hell on Earth, in your lifetime. However, the biggest danger this year is moslem attacks in US cities.
