Projected climate change is a complex multi-decade challenge. Without action to build resilience, it will increase security risks over much of the planet. It will not only increase threats to developing nations in resource-challenged parts of the world, but it will also test the security of nations with robust capability, including significant elements of our National Power here at home. Even though we may not have 100 percent certainty as to the cause or even the exact magnitude of the impacts, the risks associated with projected climate change warrant taking action today to plan and prepare for changes in our communities, at home and abroad. When it comes to thinking through long-term global challenges, none are more qualified than our most senior military leaders. Not only do they have decades of experience managing risk and responding to conflict on the battlefield, but they are also experts in geopolitical analysis and longrange strategic planning. Military leaders typically look at challenges with imperfect or conflicting information. Despite not having 100 percent certainty, they weigh the consequences of various courses of action—including the consequences of no action—and make informed decisions based on their experience and risk forbearance.

It is through this analytical prism that 11 retired Generals and Admirals came together in 2007, under the moniker of CNA’s Military Advisory Board, to examine the security implications of climate change. Their landmark report, National Security and the Threat of Climate Change, was the first time that such an elite body of military leaders expressed their concern over the security implications of climate change.

Now, seven years later, the Military Advisory Board has gathered again to re-examine the nexus of projected climate change and national security. This update reflects their decades of experience as risk managers and geopolitical security experts. With the foundation of CNA’s established analytical prowess, the report deserves strong attention from not only the security community, but also from the entire government and the American public.

Says anyone in the military who wishes a promotion under this administration. Seriously, now the military is a climate expert? :crazy:

I suppose old gum-up-the-works Miltie missed this (after all, reading more than one sentence is difficult for him);
"Projected climate change is a complex multi-decade challenge. Without action to build resilience, it will increase security risks over much of the planet. Of course, human overpopulation far beyond long term sustainable is the root cause, leading to polluting at many times the natural absorption rate. Civilization itself will be a casualty after economic collapse. We are one lost growing season from that, or one more major geologic event away. No more support for any unit, or city.
Groups of wandering vagabonds near starvation, killing others for food including massive cannibalism. Ex-military among them, until the ammo runs out or no one else in range to eat. Remote areas living under a more and more hostile climate in the century or two before the last human of Earth's surface gasps his or her last breath.
All because of the denialists and their providers, the fossil fuel industry and religions or cultures, have made it so it is too little too late with the lowering of population voluntarily with education, and with the lowering of emissions to not allow the completion of the Arctic Tundra Methane self release positive feedback loop, and a world of horror and flames.

David Suzuki Discusses the War on Climate Scientists
Brandon Baker | May 18, 2014 9:00 am | Comments
"Everybody ought to be doing their part to fight climate change, but instead some are focusing their energy on taking down the folks providing the research on our planet’s future.
From laughter to vehemence, it’s clear that the war on climate scientists and their research is on. In the second part of his conversation with Bill Moyers, Dr. David Suzuki says climate deniers are engaging in a good ol’ game of “kill the messenger.”
“This is a very effective thing that we know has been done by the tobacco industry [and] it’s being done by the fossil fuel industry… You attack a person on the basis of their trustworthiness, their ulterior motives, anything to get away from dealing with the issues,” the scientist, author and philanthropist said."
