The world is not starving ............ just a large percentage of the human population living on it. 842 million people in the world do not have enough to eat. Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five - 3.1 million children each year. One out of six children -- roughly 100 million -- in developing countries is underweight. The population has not exploded ...... much. 1 Billion - 8/1/1804 >10,000 years 2 Billion - 7/1/1927 ~123 years 3 Billion - 1/1/1960 ~33 years 4 Billion - 7/20/1974 ~14 years 5 Billion - 7/11/1987 ~14 years 6 Billion - 10/12/1999 ~12 years 7 Billion - 10/31/2011 ~12 years Water has not dried up ........ just potable water. 783 million people do not have access to clean water and almost 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation. |
