Part of the positive feedback loop; "Arctic amplification of global warming has led to increased summer sea ice retreat, which influences gas exchange between the Arctic Ocean and the atmosphere where sea ice previously acted as a physical barrier. I am afraid this is not good. The north polar ice and mid Canada are at the beginning of 2016 each 36*F hotter than normal with large amounts of slush and open water that should be solid ice at this time of year. For supposedly only being up 5*F, why was the Arctic up 20*F this summer and this high now? Is the rapid self release point of methane even closer than 5 to 8 years? This year has an Arctic January with 1/6th open ice than should be solid, and temperatures up to 36*F higher than historic. Will 2016 be even worse? 2015 Was Hottest Year on Record—By Far, Early Data Shows "2015 was far and away the hottest year on record, say scientists at the Berkeley Earth group on Wednesday. For those who have been educated and enamored by science, this is very good and deep. It is quite Spock-like: Ice-sheet-driven methane storage and release in the Arctic "It is established that late-twentieth and twenty-first century ocean warming has forced dissociation of gas hydrates with concomitant seabed methane release. However, recent dating of methane expulsion sites suggests that gas release has been ongoing over many millennia. Here we synthesize observations of ~1,900 fluid escape features—pockmarks and active gas flares—across a previously glaciated Arctic margin with ice-sheet thermomechanical and gas hydrate stability zone modelling. Our results indicate that even under conservative estimates of ice thickness with temperate subglacial conditions, a 500-m thick gas hydrate stability zone—which could serve as a methane sink—existed beneath the ice sheet. Moreover, we reveal that in water depths 150–520 m methane release also persisted through a 20-km-wide window between the subsea and subglacial gas hydrate stability zone. O'Brien; In reflecting on what feedback could stop ocean boil off and the end of thermal vent "seed life", it could be that as the clouds build up, the albedo change could cool it enough at some point "early" in the process. Then 30 million years for recovery. Or, it could be that methane starts life on a planet and ends it when there is too much.

So far this year, which is the Arctic low temperature season, it has been 16 to 36 degrees above normal, with 1/6th non-ice that 'normally' should be hard frozen. It is at its lowest extent for this season since measurement began by satellite in 1979. The Beaufort, Laptev, and Lara Seas in the Arctic are breaking up early, now. It could hit insufficient ice over the East Siberian Continental Shelf and its 50GTs of methane ready to blow, this summer. There is another 1650 GTs of Arctic methane that will release after the first pulse causes global heat gain of ~10*F, and another 3000GTs in the oceans at various depths. This is a positive feedback loop at the beginning of completion this summer, or possibly as late as 2019. Here is the latest, August looks like the month of the 50 GT methane 'burp'. http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2016/04 ... rming.html This year will set the third in a row of highest heat ever and we are already well past human experience. Last year gained a full quarter degree F, this year will be closer to a half degree, and in three years it will be going up at 1*F per year. 14 years for the northern hemisphere and 17 for the southern. >Or less.< Milton and creeps like him may be in for a big miserable surprise. The changes needed, it turns out, were last century.    It would be a good time to be ready spiritually, for your own death, and that of all you have ever loved.
