Here's my 'quick' review regarding Anthony Marr's 'America sucks because I don't like it' or whatever he titled it....

1) What makes his critera for 'national-greatness' so neato? He's entitled to his own standards, of course. He isn't very convincing about why anyone else should be following those standards, though.

2) 'Democracy means majority rule....'
Oh, boy. You'd think someone would have told him America isn't a democracy.

3) All the usualle ARA 'Buzz-words' get tossed out:
'Companion animals'
''Trophy hunters--'shooting anything that moved'
'Seal Massacre'
'Serial killers'

4) The usualle ARA "All hunters are the same' routine get's used:
'They revel in bloodshed, derive pleasure from another being's suffering...'
Same old, Same old.

5) referring to animals... 'Humans are essentially the same."
You bet ya....

6) 'Hunters; all armed to the teeth"
For bow-hunting? That's real believable....

7) 'Only .8 % of New Jersey population hunts'
No mention of how many non-hunters support hunting, though.
Classic ARA BS.

8) 'The solution is to make the coucil anti-hunting'
Of course! Why didn't we think of this? :-

9) This I found a laugh: He goes to a local reporter, mumbles god knows what regarding a bow-hunt......then complains it's lying to the people when he's ignored?
Jeez. Didn't see that one coming, did we?

10) Regarding the media, he believes the entire nation is 'exceptionally right wing.'
Maybe he's comparing our media to North Korea's. I Guess it'd seem rather right wing then.

11) And we get a peek again at the in-fighting among ARA's, to whit:
The complaining of a certain ARA-type's salary. Apparently; there's a line past which even ARA's shouldn't be allowed to earn.
The writer is a bit vague why that's so and where the line should be drawn. If I were to take a guess, I would say anyone making more money then him is in the wrong.

12) He does get some things right about the abuse of the environment. Kudu's to him for that.

Closing remarks:

He is a very gifted writer.

The oddest thing: he reminded me of Prez. Obama.
A remarkably extraordinary person.....doing a remarkably ordinary job.

Good deconstruction of this idiocy, Iowa. Did you really expect anything other than the typical cliches and platitudes of AR and the far left? Tom Paine would probably roll over in his grave if he knew his name was on an intellectual cesspool like that site.

Not only that, but you'd think he would've learned about the dangers of democracy in a high school history or civics class. Thomas Jefferson said it best:

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."

Deconstruction? LOL... This is hysterically funny. I think Jacques Derrida must be vomiting in his grave to hear the term deconstruction vulgarized by such ignorance. You would think that one wouldn't use the term which by definition undermines their own mentality. But what is one to expect from the far right wing militaristic gun-nuts. Generally speaking, if not murdering, torturing and raping humans for the interests of industrial-military complex in some foreign land, they murder, torture and rape defenseless nonhuman animals. There is nothing to be gained by responding to this crap. One can perhaps save some animal lives by directly obstructing their murdering sprees but I think the best thing to do is working on destroying the institutions which propagate and continue to legalize murder, torture and rape disguising it as war, hunting etc. There will always be some sickos around, but we need different social system which will not permit them to get away with these atrocities making them illegal.

From Camille Marino: "It's time to stop waving signs at cars or trying to enlighten the apathetic. The fight for the rights of non-human people is urgent and requires us to act outside the box." (source)

"We need to obliterate the status quo -- not tolerate it; not become a part of it. Be loud! Be unafraid! Be Militant!" Negotiation is Over: Go Vegan or Die!

No response looks a lot like unable to.

Well; I took notes as I read the article; so I could do as good a job with my observations as I could. I suspect if Ante wanted to; he could give a good point-by-point review of the review.
It takes time to get the words right, I've learned as a writer.

"No response" absolutely does not mean that in the slightest and could be for hundreds of different reasons but I have stated my reason. Now, you go on with the circus of your own delusions, I've got better things to do.

That Camille Marino has some interesting views on Francione.

Anyone else seeing the cracks growing in the ARA edifice?
I've said it before: ARA's are their own worst foes.

Thanks! I'll be here ( http://www.animalrightsdiscussion.com/F ... #post88697 ) discussing Francione, Dr. Steven Best and Camille Marino for the next couple of days, I think, if you need me.

Why's it got to be either/or?

That's about the size of it. You recognized the flaws in thinking in this article, and Ante Bozanich as not offered a counter to them. The flaws you pointed out are "inconvenient truths" to him. What Ante posted was a typical, tired Ante response: post an angry, vociferous diatribe that contains zero rational arguments followed by YouTube videos that no one gives a damn about. Yawn!

Reading AR in-fighting is great entertainment isn't it? This Camille Marino seems particularly unhinged. "Go Vegan or Die"?! How hilarious is that? For all that Ms. Marino attacks Francione, Gary Francione is one of the few AR intellectuals, along with Regan, that makes his case using rational, scholarly, well thought-out arguments ( though they are still deeply flawed ), as opposed to coming across as as an angry, unhinged lunatic like Steven Best.

Of course a hunter (read animal killer) would approve of Francionists who have been for a while obstructing and attacking genuine AR advocates by straw man tactics and other slanderous misrepresentations. It appears now - something I have always suspected - that they are collaborators with the oppressors and their murdering machine.

"These wild accusations are obviously baseless, not to mention idiotic, as none of us has a means of communicating with the underground, the ALF does not commit acts of violence against human or nonhuman animals, and even the more radical AR militants have never killed a human being, let alone a member of our own movement—no matter how traitorous or misguided they might be.

Please spread the word far and wide that these cowardly and treacherous cult followers of Gary Francione have now become collaborationists with the repressive police state that has evolved to crush the animal liberation movement.

Does she know how unequipped vegans are for such a fascist takeover?? 98% of the general population is not going to roll over and die because Camille wants it to happen. In fact she is nothing more then an example of just what is dreadfully wrong with how such silly hate mongering vegans are trying to force an unacceptable value upon the rest of society.

Yep, I certainly hope to kill some animals in the upcoming months. All of the meat from last year is gone and the freezer looks pretty empty. Time to refill it. 8)
