Thanks for your reply Grizzly and animals lover

AL: I did say in a later post that I had not used the correct wording in my previous post about some stuff (the human rights thing for instance was really not what I meant to say) but if you want to hang on to the literal of the wrong wording - then fine. I realise that you must be on a wind up - everything I have wirtten is true, I have removed some lines because I preferred to in hindsight as I did not want to share some info after all and added some stuff I thought I should have said but did not think of at the time, simple as that.

I do have hedgehogs, in little hibernation houses specially built, dotted around my land and they had special feeding before they hibernated. It was suggested by the animals welfare people here as an idea to help these animals and there were spec.s available online on how to build them. I had a number of rescue situations with those animals last year and was in liasion with a special hedgehog medical person who treats them and rehabilitates them. 2009 was hedgehog year here - where people were encouraged to work for their conservation so we embraced it whole heartedly.

Grizzly, I think one.s body would just shut down and make the person sleep before it got to that stage.

CL.

I do hope you soon realize how ridiculous you sound.
Special hedgehog medical person??
You do realize that cats, your feral cats, are predators. They are fully capable of....can and will stalk, hunt, and are fully capable of killing hedgehogs. I would even venture to say a hibernating hedgehog trapped in a hibernating house, fast asleep, would be easy pickins.
I guess your "special hedgehog medical person" didn't pass along that little tid bit of info.

Now let's see how your story changes.

Yes, here in NL there is a specialist person who knows about hedgehogs and their care = whats so strange or funny about that? It is helpful. It was the animal welfare people who gave the instructions on how to make the hedgehog houses - they have entrances into it which only the Hedgehog can get into and keeps predators out because they cannot reach.

Some people do unselfishly give their time and help to animals in need and make them well again to go back to the wild to live on - well certainly in Europe, perhaps where you come from nobody cares enough? Maybe a bullet will fix it good and proper, eh, maybe an animal is not worth the trouble to you!? Excuse me for saying that if it is not correct - it is the way that you put yourself across..

If an animals can be saved from death and recover through medical care, then why not sort it? or perhaps you just are not familiar with these things because your not interested in creatures in that way and you would not get involved in that sort of thing?

I am a veggie, veggie is my choice not anyone elses - they can eat what they want. You can call everyone of a different mindset and with a different way of caring for animals from yourself hypocrites and laugh and scoff all you want but in doing that you are setting yourself up to appear arrogant, intolerant and unreasonable, who is to say that you are right and who do you and your cronies think that you are? Judging others in a way in which your not happy to be judged yourself. It goes both ways.

What is the solution between those against hunting and those for it, for people who eat meat and those who dont, for 2 sets of people with opposite views? There has to be some compromise and reason. You tell me that I have no right to stop people hunting - It appears that a few of you suggest that I or others have no right help rescue animals in need and think its stupid or laughable...?! What is the solution? because sniping and being bloody-minded for the sake of it is an absolute waste of time and deliberate stirring. (I had an unreasonable, out of character outburst on a bad day about hunters which set of a chain reaction of daftness). So let it stop here.

There are people like me who get actively involved in helping animals - just because it is a hedgehog does not make it less important than any other animal - it has a right to care too and recover if it can unless you can enlighten me as to why not.

CL
If your going to continue on the same slag-off theme, then there will be no point in continuing the discussion.

Addition - my cats and the hedgehogs had no trouble with each other in the summer - in fact they shared food at the same time, have photos to prove it - no cat caused casualties at all. The cats were not interested in the hedgehogs.

How did I know that your cats...your "feral cats"....have no interest in hedgehogs. That was predictable.
Yes there are people who actually help animals and then there are those that make up stories. If nothing else it is somewhat entertaining.....but still not believable.

And hibernation boxes, the wooden one, have a removable tops that are NOT supposed to be affixed and which is to be secured in place by a brick or rock, etc.....that is not secure from a cat or a fox....another common predator. And the cardboard ones...well they are made of cardboard and the underground ones can easily be dug up. So what else you got??

Slag off is a strange term for a Netherlander but it sure sounds like a sonic boom on this board.

I was trying very hard to believe Catlady might actually be someone from where she said, but the dialogue now sounds so much like a previous poster, it's hard to play along.

Catlady; is there some link we can check out regarding these hedgehog bed and breakfasts?

And those are indeed some amazing cats.....do they hunt birds or mice?

FYI (not that it is any of your business): I never, ever said I was a netherlander, I said I lived there and I do, dutch is not my original nationality. Some folk do move to other countries to live.

Pride comes before the fall. Some trolls just can not help but leave their former trademarks in their print. Hunting Sabs is very easy because they are to proud not to be caught. 20 hours of playing kitty cat moma doesn't leave much time for being a hedgehog moma to. Maybe catlady is just fattening up the hedgehogs for the kitty cats.

Sure enough: there are hedgehog winter-lodges. Though it might be a bit more believing if the link was from something other then a UK one.(Waves to X-black).

Any word on whether your cats include birds and mice in their diet?

What is it with you people?

Ok you want a dutch version - can you speak or read dutch, I can but my main language is english so I tend to use english google and english speaking sites. I sent you an english one because I thought you might not understand a dutch ones description. However, oyu can look it up yourself now I gave you the dutch name of a hedgehog house - egel huis go to google.nl and type it in.

Donnie rolling eyes and drooling McLeod of the clan McLeod, are you scots or just an american pseudo scot? Where do you think I was born accordiing to my use of language?

I dont know who you think that I am but I was never on this site before my join date.

Why dont you check with your webmaster to ask him to confirm my ip is from NL?

You are a shower of pure wee numpties. - hey McLeod - you know what that means?

Catlady

What does Donnie's nationality have to do with anything or are you just in attack mode once again?? Or maybe because you don't know anyone else's name to attack them?? Or maybe you want to make a distraction??
Donnie is not the one with the problem here....but you are.

Catlady: a hint....if you're truely not who you seem like to the rest of us; why let it bother you? There is subject matter to discus without even commenting on our suspicions(Right or wrong)

So: those cats of yours eat birds or mice? I'm very curious therein....
