A lot of people don't realise that their are dolphins living in Scotland, but you can see them in the Moray Firth, even when you're just driving over the Kessock Bridge. Their was a woman on TV yesterday who was campaigning to offer them some sort of protection from the environmental damage that happens to the firth (anyone who lives nearby will know what she means). Here's the link, thought it was pretty interesting: http://programmes.stv.tv/the-hour/news- ... -activity/ |

I really love dolphins and I really like to watch them. For me they're one of the cutest creatures in the world. Also, I find them one the of the cutest. This is interesting but it will be more interesting if the vid on the link you provided is working. Any links for that? |

There are no dolphins living in Scotland but you may find them in the sea surrounding Scotland. While it is commendable to be concerned about pollution in those waters, dolphins would be last species to serve as a "flagship", since they are plentiful and not dependent on the waters there. As for dolphins being "cute", not the expression I would use. Interesting but overrated as to intelligence is my opinion.... |

Dolphins are butchered in Japan and in Denmark, probably other places as well. They are part of the less than 10% left of edible fish and sea mammals left. Much of the phytoplankton food base is also gone from the ozone layer thinning and acidification with warming. 6 huge gyres of trash, mainly slow breakdown plastics are in the oceans along with mercury fallout from coal fired power plants. It is estimated that before 2050, the entire world's oceanic fisheries will be gone, along with a big chunk of the food humanity came to rely on. The sick oceans, then as they warm deeper, explosive and massive methane releases to shoot up the warming further. Then, maybe in 2 million years, the oceans will be back similar to what they were, but with new species. One species out of the many that will die, when efforts should be made to mitigate everything affecting the entire system, and especially root causes. |

I don't exactly understand why some people in some countries have to butchered dolphins and even shark. Maybe they do not understand the effect of this in the future. Hopefully the next generation will still able to see dolphins playing in the ocean while singing. Dolphins are intelligent sea mammals so it is very unjust to kill them and eat them. |

******** So it is OK to kill and eat the un-intelligent ones then ?[/quote] As long as they are humans, which are in too plentiful supply!!!! |
