Recycling for Charities Launches Cell Phone Donation Website
Innovative Non-profit Organization Will Promote Recycling Via the Web

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – September 7, 2005 – Recycling for Charities (RFC), a non-profit organization which collects cellular phones, PDA’s, Palm Pilots and digital cameras that are no longer in use and donates them for recycling announces today the launch of their new website developed by Trademark Productions, Inc.

The primary goal of Recycling for Charities is to keep old, unwanted wireless equipment, also known as “e-waste,” from gathering in landfills where it can harm the environment. Cellular phones and other small electronic devices such as pagers, PDA’s, Digital cameras and iPods contain toxins such as lead and mercury that can leak out of landfills and contaminate sources of drinking water.

“The well being of the environment should be a concern to all of us,” said Dwight Zahringer, President and Founder of Recycling for Charities. “With the proliferation of cell phones and other electronic devices, we need a source for properly disposing of old, unwanted wireless items. That was the primary motivation behind RFC. Now there is a outlet for the public to dispose of these items, get a tax write-off and support their favorite charity.”

Individuals and corporations alike can collect old wireless equipment and send it to RFC. The money from each unit collected is split with RFC, and donated to the person’s charity of choice. RFC accepts all makes and models, regardless of working condition and all donations are tax-deductible. Non-profit organizations can sign up to be included on the list of charities by going to the RFC website. This program can be used as a school, church or scout troop fundraiser. Marketing materials are located on the RFC website for download.
