I am currently a member of the Sierra Club and a registered Green Party member. On this forums, I hope to talk about all sorts of environemntal issues, and hopefully get into political and social issues as well.

I am from colorado and and looking at laws that are related to the environment. I hope to start some discussion threads soon so I can get help with these laws. Some of them include authorizing the use of greywater, allowing mining operations with reclamation permit to not replace water lost by evapotranspiration, and making it easier for products that came from Beetle Kill Wood to be sold.

If any of you are knowledgable in this, I would apreciate it.

Those are two law changes I would support but the second one only to be sold within areas already affected by such beetles.

I am up at 8,880' in Colorado, and on pure solar power. The day you first posted was my 7 years and one day here at envirolink. I am a registered Republican, but voted Constitution Party last election. I use grey water on my interior gardens, and for a low flush regular toilet. Greywater is legal to use inside. My Earthship (TM) has a rainwater catchment system used for its gardens. I am a member of NPG with over 30K other Americans.
I don't know of any problems as to the use of beetle killed wood. Unless there are still beetle eggs in it. I know that AGW is causing the beetles to go higher and over passes. It won't be long before it is around here.
Personally, I don't like polluting mining operations or fracking take-away-your-property-value gas miners. This state stinks with not giving mineral rights with the land. I even had to go through a legal process to get absolute water rights for only 600' around my well. This has other lot owners bummed because they have to prove they won't affect my well(basically impossible), or they are stuck with buying chlorinated water. Colorado IS in a water crisis, front and back range. Too many people, and AGW effects.

GoGreenCO, Another thing I read from last week is that for the past three years, because of extra warmth, the pine beetles have had two broods of eggs each season instead of the usual one(from CU studies). This is of great concern of course.
Add it to the growing list of negative things happening because of AGW here in CO.

I heard CP has a strong base in Colorado. I generally agree with their stance on tariffs, war, and the 17th amendment, but disagree with them on pretty much everything else.

Currently I have dropped these bills in favor of ones deregulating nitrogen and phosphorus. They are HB12-1161 and SB12-017. The first one I'm not too sure will be harmful since it will allow a standard, but it wall allow stakeholders to have influence, so I'm afraid that farmers might try to make the standards lower.
