Post subject: | Washington state government slave |
Hello, I am from Washington state. I have worked in the enviro realm all my life (er, too long). I have worked for both state and federal government agencies, doing field work, planning and policy. All related to environmental issues. I am currently working for the state. My major concerns are (these do not reflect my employer, of course): Effectiveness of government to get things done Efficiency of government to get things done Issue of incorporating best available science into policy decisions - how much weight should administration have in making the final say (they are actually often the least qualified) Effectiveness of state legislators in adequately understanding and representing districts when passing environmentally-based bills. For example, these folks do not have degrees in biology, and often do not have advisors to spell it out for them objectively. Do they make the best decisions when passing laws? Same goes for Congress. Should I go on? ![]() I will step down now. Anyway, Hi all! Yes, I am a greener, too, if there are any other Greeners from Washington here... |

Welcome to the board! Government and Efficiency/Effectiveness don't belong in the same sentence! ![]() |
