yes'm .... I think I know what you mean. I seem to want to express the same notion in that we are somewhere between animals and angels. We are neither and both.
Yes indeed, although alot of animals display a certain level of altruism even between species but I think the the biggest demon humans have to face is their ignorance, me included of course.
The gap between my awareness and my understanding reveals a demon in itself.
We all know life has its extremes from still born to longevity though death is a reality in most parents eyes. By giving birth although a natural thing is it not a subtle unknown murder as the newborn from the womb will become the 'victim' in the tomb. I've highlighted victim as maybe the living are victims in a hiccup in a 'life' that is interrupted in a somewhat other eternal peace.
Sorry for sounding so nihilistic but I'm from the schopenhauerian school of thought
