Below is another review for Green Power: Since global warming and going green are such hot topics, the environmental thriller novel, Green Power is a must read. This book’s plot revolves around the setting up of methane digesters as alternate sources of energy on dairy farms. However, when bioterrorists get drawn in to challenge the idea of going green, an epidemic breaks out pointing to the digesters as the cause. A detective story twist comes into play as both the CDC and FBI get involved. The numerous chase scenes add to the excitement of this thriller. A stroke of romance and the protagonist’s improved relationship with his mother bring about a soft touch to this novel. Pollution from agriculture can impact negatively on a broad spectrum of people, especially in regions such as the Caribbean where much of the population lives near to water. Fishers and farmers are among the poorest people in the Caribbean. Their livelihoods are critically dependent on fertile soils and healthy marine ecosystems. Agricultural pollution can raise the costs of agricultural production through soil contamination, phyto-toxicity and pest resistance, threatening poor farmers’ livelihoods. It can threaten public health (e.g. residues on food) and it can reduce the competitiveness of food exports by raising concerns about food safety standards. Down-stream, agricultural pollution can undermine fishers’ livelihoods and impact on other ecosystem services by degrading sensitive aquatic resources of the coastal zone, particularly coral reefs, thereby endangering tourism amenity value.

More FREE advertising (spamming) for a book that takes place in 1989 and was against clean nuclear power (in the new glass ball and modular reactors of improved safety and Yucca Mountain is still a good place for radioactive waste. with good quality barrels separated with concrete/fly ash/soil cement). The methane capture is better than letting the 23 times more powerful than CO2 HGHG into the air, but still produces CO2, and the 300 times more powerful than CO2 agriculture pollutant NO2 is not mentioned. It is a good book. but dated, severely. This was before AGW was fully quantified and accepted as a measured reality, and being anti-nuclear was a misguided bandwagon. The action is less than Clive Cussler, and romance more. It should have addressed overpopulation and the illegal invasion taking away American ag jobs. The bad guy being a Vietnam hero gone bad was also cliche. but it had a very good medical thriller component. I hope he sells them out finally, and posts in his areas of knowledge!!!
