My, my, my. noise picker. It would seem that your examples are still hesitant to sweat and get their hands dirty, where alien workers are not only willing to do both but are willing to do them for less. Even in the (insert a sarcasm here) tourist industry of Indiana, how much tourism is there in corn and soybean fields. you’ll forgive the malapropism

SPECIAL REPORT: Jobs Americans Will Do

For years, open-borders proponents have stated that foreign workers are necessary because they work jobs that Americans simply won't do. Last spring we asked our members if they felt this statement was true and if they knew any Americans who worked in these ‘undesired’ fields, such as fast-food, hotel housekeeping, roofing, and janitorial work. The number of responses we received was overwhelming. Here are a few of the responses, reprinted with permission and edited for content.

§ 1325. Improper entry by alien

(a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who
(1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or
(2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or
(3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Offenses
Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) defines several distinct offenses related to aliens. Subsection 1324(a)(1)(i)-(v) prohibits alien smuggling, domestic transportation of unauthorized aliens, concealing or harboring unauthorized aliens, encouraging or inducing unauthorized aliens to enter the United States, and engaging in a conspiracy or aiding and abetting any of the preceding acts. Subsection 1324(a)(2) prohibits bringing or attempting to bring unauthorized aliens to the United States in any manner whatsoever, even at a designated port of entry. Subsection 1324(a)(3).

Alien Smuggling -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(i) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing that a person is an alien, to bring to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien.

Domestic Transporting -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(ii) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law.

Harboring -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.

Encouraging/Inducing -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv) makes it an offense for any person who -- encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.

Conspiracy/Aiding or Abetting -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(v) expressly makes it an offense to engage in a conspiracy to commit or aid or abet the commission of the foregoing offenses.

Bringing Aliens to the United States -- Subsection 1324(a)(2) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has not received prior authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, to bring to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever, such alien, regardless of any official action which may later be taken with respect to such alien.
Unit of Prosecution -- With regard to offenses defined in subsections 1324(a)(1)(A)(i)-(v), (alien smuggling, domestic transporting, harboring, encouraging/inducing, or conspiracy/aiding or abetting) each alien with respect to whom a violation occurs constitutes a unit of prosecution. Prior to enactment of the IIRIRA, the unit of prosecution for violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(2) was each transaction, regardless of the number of aliens involved. However, the unit of prosecution is now based on each alien in respect to whom a violation occurs.
Penalties -- The basic statutory maximum penalty for violating 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(i) and (v)(I) (alien smuggling and conspiracy) is a fine under title 18, imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both. With regard to violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(ii)-(iv) and (v)(ii), domestic transportation, harboring, encouraging/inducing, or aiding/abetting, the basic statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 5 years, unless the offense was committed for commercial advantage or private financial gain, in which case the maximum term of imprisonment is 10 years.
Old buzzard booger eater doesn't get it. Encouraging, hiring, or abetting an illegal is a $5K fine for EACH illegal, and includes up to 5 years prison time at hard labor, and includes confiscation of property if entire fine is not paid. A 10% bounty would be good pickin's for those so inclined, or whatever percentage Dog gets. Use of force authorized!!

Seriously, you're going to compare clearing brush to digging a trench to proper grade, loading the spoils on a dump truck, preparing the bedding, moving the trench box, and depending on thedepth, laying back the trench to clearing brush with a backhoe?

No, I am not. It seems you assumed more than was actually discussed. The newbie I was speaking of was not digging a trench, preparing the bedding, moving the trench box or even operating a backhoe. He was operating a small dozer restoring the drainage grade of the highway right of way after the pipe was laid and spreading out the spoils after they were processed through a crusher. Those two operations are fairly similar for comparion purposes.

It would have taken me a bit longer to get back to where I could dig a trench on grade with the backhoe and even moreso to get used to moving a trench box as those were not used when I was working with heavy equipment. I would have been slower than the Hispanics for sure, but I would have been able to do a similar job in the end. I would have probably been a little faster with a Gradeall

Time for a bounty on all illegals(misdemeanor with $5K fine and 6 mos.) and their encouragers, employers, aiders and abettors (all felonies, $5 to 10 K fine for each illegal encouraged, etc., and 5 years for each offense).

The editorial board of the Washington Post has said that apprehensions of illegal aliens along our southern border have been reduced to such a low level that Republicans can declare victory and move on to granting amnesty to 11 million illegals. (Figures say GOP should declare victory on immigration -- WP -- Sept. 25, 2011)

According to the Post, apprehensions are down to about 350,000 for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30. Arizona Senator John McCain says the U.S. Border Patrol catches about one in four. So, for the year ending on Friday, 1,400,000 people tried to cross the border illegally and 350,000 were stopped. That leaves 1,050,000 who made it. To say this is success is outrageous.

And, if we did declare success and grant amnesty to (at least) 11 million, what would the open borders crowd that runs DHS do? Stop enforcing the border, that's what.

It is past time that we stopped playing games and set a real goal for border protection. It is not unrealistic to believe we could reduce illegal entry across our southern border to about 20,000 per year. We could also install a reliable system to count everyone who crosses the border. Once this is in place and the goal of 20,000 have been reached and maintained for two years, we should proceed with the debate over what to do with those illegal aliens who are still in the U.S.

It is time that at least one of those engaged in the Republican debates endorse such a plan and let the people decide if it is right for America.
