No scampering for us. We are far enough from the coast to just barely be in the flash flood warnings, which took effect an hour ago. You cannot beg, borrow, or steal a battery anywhere near us. The FEMA trailers are lined up at Fort Bragg to replentish the materials already placed in forward deployment areas, including rows of trailers with huge generators. The clouds have arrived and the wind gusts are picking up a little. For the next 24 hours or so it is supposed to get worse and then slowly better. One neighbor is already making plans to spend the time with us eventhough I still have the generator in storage. I did get the batch of 30 round magazines in today. I had ordered them a few months ago at a great price and they had been backordered. I have a ne Turtledove book and a new bottle of SoCo in case I get too bored during the wait. At least it is not two weeks from now when we are supposed to be at the beach place. |

Survivied the storm ... almost storm that is. Got so bad we went to a movie. Too bad the folks on the coast did not have it that easy. Missed the earthquake of the century on the east coast and the hurricane all in the same week ...... I wonder what I will miss next. |

Transformers blew up last night making the sky a blue/green color. They were blowing up one after another, and the power went out in a neighborhood adjacent to mine. I also lost power briefly. Floods are also common where I am. There are also large trees that have fallen on powerlines, and it is still fairly windy here. |

From what I've heard, there isn't enough time this season to rebuild and repair everything wrecked by the flood, especially in poor old Vermont.  Texas 160+ fires. And it got even worse in 2012. Glad snowy is gone. Only a couple of dimwit denialists left.

The next Tropical system to watch is 98L, and much uncertainty is in store for its future track because of the upper air dynamics associated with a fall like weather pattern across the NH and troughs starting to dig deeper in the United States.  The National Hurricane Center is giving this area of disturbed weather a 70% chance of formation. |
