in terms of pouches, here is a Gambian Pouched Rat stuffing it's pouches with walnuts. Gambian pouched rats are the species most used for mine detection in Africa because they can handle the heat and bury their food a foot or two underground then smell for the food later in the same African soil. They also are known to live longer then dogs (18 years) and are 8 times cheaper to train and 20 times cheaper to feed then dogs. Detecting the biggest killer in Africa, Tuberculosis, is the latest use of Gambians... they are 30% more accurate then people with microscopes and do the same number of tests in 7 minutes as a human does in one day. They estimate that for every undetected case of TB, 15 healthy people will become infected with TB so these rats have already saved thousands of lives and a few million dollars in health expenses.
