Several states have enacted similar laws, partly in an effort to edge toward elimination of abortion and partly due to knee jerk reaction to specific cases.

(A) No person shall purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another's pregnancy.

Since a lot of people use the Bible as their source of guidance it is interesting to explore what relevant instruction it provides in the case of Castro. As far as I know the Bible does not have any commandment or law specifically against voluntary abortion, but as far as an outsider causing severe injury to a fetus against the mother's will, then it is eye for an eye - Exodus Chap. 21.

"22 “If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely[e] but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. 23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise."

Even though I'm not a death penalty guy, if the death penalty is to apply to anybody it should apply to Castro and those brutally forced miscarriages should be up there front and center.
