Energy would seem to leave Russia holding the ultimate trump card unless I am missing something.

Ukraine could do a lot worse than joining the Russian Federation.

This is what we need as our immigration policy.

"Putin's SHORTEST SPEECH

On August 04, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

"In Russia live like Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim's then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.

Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'.

We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia.

The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians.

The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation." Now, WE need a leader like that!! Another Theodore Roosevelt. [-o<

The situation in Ukraine has a few more layers than meets the eye. 40 percent of the people would rather rejoin the Russia Federation. Former U.S. military officers are advising Ukraine on how to build a effective military focusing on building up NCOs within their military and other methods. This has largely failed because the civilian government just doesn't want to spend the money to do it.

Ukraine has lived under Soviet rule for a very long time. Old habits die hard. When they gained their freedom and Ukraine was born again as its own nation the only group that was organized enough to run things were the old communists. They got toss out of office then the next group with enough organization to run things was organized criminals. So, power gets tossed back and forth between these two different devils the Ukrainian people seem to want to do business with. There just simply isn't a civilian group that has the peoples best interest at heart that has organized to the point of being able to effectively govern and no one seems to have the will to make that happen.

Trust me every single neighbor of Russia knows just exactly who and what they are. They have a record that is a few centuries long. If they don't have to will to see to it their people and nations are defended than I don't know what we can ultimately do for them.
