Those trees will eventually grow, hopefully. Some trees do better in some areas than others. I tend to like to get larger trees to plant. Usually the largest I can plant myself, but this last house I had a couple of maples planted that were too large for me to deal with without heavy equipment. I let the nursery do it so they had a guarantee too. My son has something like 65-70 Japanese Maples of various types in the backyard at the moment, but he is starting a tree farm to raise ornamentals and some herbs and the like. He got tons of seeds to plant last year and there are flats everywhere on our outdoor patio now.

Around here too many people plant trees without doing any research on them. The Bradford Pear is popular because it grows fast and is pretty for a short while, but they are relatively short lived too. I have no pears, but I do have some natural oaks, birches, willows, maples, dogwood, redbud, and one sycamore. All but the birches, sycamore, and one Japanese Maple I planted since we moved in. I did remove several tall pines first though.

Heh.. if you were in my neighborhood I'd give you some trees. :D We're going to give away a good amount of trees.. can't get them planted in time and don't want them to go to waste.

All the trees we're planting (with the exception of the key lime, cherry, and apples) are native to Colorado. Not sure what they all are.. I have the tags somewhere though.

The guy who lived in the house before us planted a few trees, there's this really pretty red tree out front that I'm trying to figure out what kind it is. I'd like to plant a few more because they're pretty.

Pear trees.. thats what we need! We had one in San Diego. I sure do miss the apple tree we had in San Diego.. not sure what kind it was, grew small green apples that tasted like a cross between granny smith and red apples.

Hey.. do you know anything about xeriscaping (I think thats how it's spelled)?

When we moved to The Springs (heh.. everything here is called "The Springs".. ) we couldn't find Key Limes anywhere.. so we decided to grow our own tree. Instead of ordering one that would grow limes in the near future we got an itty bitty thing that may grow limes in about 100 years. :D

This is our lime tree..

I once was innocent. Time has taken its toll on that however.

We have a container lime tree that bears a small lime which is just large enough to put into two margaritas ....

Josh probably had some pretty harsh words for Wayne too...but of course, you don't chew out your subordinate leaders in front of the troops.
