Recieved in Email this morning:

It is with a heavy heart that I impart the news that former Air Evac 12 pilot Andrea Pantchenko was killed Friday night in a helicopter crash (article below). Many of us remember Andrea, who was a recent Russian immigrant, from when he flew for our local Air Evac base about a year ago. Andrea was a happy, likeable person with a sly sense of humor hiding behind his thick accent. He was an excellent pilot, extremely smooth on the controls, and always easy going. He had an endless curiosity and explored the world with fervor. Prior to coming to the U.S., Andrea flew in Spain. He left Air Evac Lifeteam after two years of service and returned to the west coast to fly contract helicopters.

Andrea's wife, Titania, is in Russia and efforts are under way to reach her there.

Годспеед my brother, иу вилл б forever missed. Танк you.

Sorry to hear about your friend, but if it is any consolation you know he died with his boots on doing what he liked. Few can ask for more out of life when it comes down to it.

My deepest sympathies to you and his family, we lose too many heros in this country.

Yep, sorry to hear you lost a friend. I read something once that stuck in my mind.
