I had to go back and look at the backsplash. Glass tiles are definitely the way to go if you're tiling walls but very pricey (I watch all the HGTV shows too lol). What is that color blue called do you remember? Looks like a "Willamsburg Blue". Former neighbors did a mirror backsplash (she didn't cook much a real princess) and it was seamless, or seamed to be and since it was a long U-shaped kitchen, it enlarged it visually. She once had a party and used the U-counter as a buffet station all around lit with small votives next to the mirror. The artful displays of food with the candle light reflecting in the glass looked smashing. As you said glass tiles would do the same with light.

The only thing I don't like about your house is that dead animal head on the wall.

This is the start of a renovation job I am doing.













The pictures above are of the front living area that needed gutting because the old lime plaster was falling off and the lats were rotting in places. I will be re plastering over new lats using lime mortar and all the original moulds will be run in situ from the profiles I have collected.
