From an ethics perspective, I hope the original writer (if he's a real marine at all... I am suspicious of any content coming from a .ru domain) is at least at peace with the fact that by not abiding by the Geneva Conventions he should at least expect no less from the enemy. The problem with these situations, of course, is that if no one is willing to stand up and do the right thing first then no one ever will. That being said, I'm not sure that if I was in the same situation I would not be doing the same thing. Being a true transformational leader is hard under the best of circumstances. That's why you can name those in recent history who were on one hand: Ghandi, MLK Jr, ... ?
