Denni - what would you do with the homeless mentally ill population? I agree, there are a LOT of mentally ill people living on the streets. In the past they were locked up against their will in "asylums", places that were often horror houses. What would you do with people who don't want to live in a community shelter type setting, and who are too mentally ill to take care of themselves properly?

I'm really curious, because I don't really see a solution.

well for starters we can stop subsidizing the oil and gas conglomerates,(Exxon had a record-breaking profit year in 2006) stop subsidizing the large agri-business industry, big corporate guzzlers with tax incentives and stop waging wars against other countries in the name of 'freedom and democracy'.

all those billions & billions could be used to give ALL AMERICANS Universal Healthcare,give subsidies/grants to States to build affordable housing, half-way houses and programs to help the disenfranchised get the medical treatment and or economic/social training skills to help them become productive members in their community.

give school boards and cities money to establish after school programs that give young teens an alternative to gangs,sex,drugs and violence.

Fix Walter Reed and all the other War Veteran Facilities around the country...geeeezzz you would think this to be a no-brainer given their sacrifice for the flag.

help people in this country first.

denni.....Please show me CONSTITUTIONALLY where the government is supposed to take money from one citizen and redistribute it to another citizen....Show me where the government is supposed to take care of health care for everyone....the government is NOT The mommy and daddy........

I think the reason for so many homeless is that not enough of our citizens truly Pledge Allegiance to the flag and the Republic for which it stands. They've allowed in so many illegals that rob jobs and public funds that could go to real Americans who are homeless. They let illegals live 60 to a house but not Americans. Preference is given to minorities for benefits, and for jobs they need less qualifications.(affirmative action)
Then there is the profit greed of companies and corporations like Microsoft.
The driving force of it all is overpopulation for the most part, with the mentality that is over-tolerance and over-compassion.
The Lakota never would have allowed the Crows to move into their lands en masse. They wouldn't allow a person to slow down their movements or be a total drag on them unless it was a respected elder. We should learn from them, and the Utes. (see below)
Immigration's "ripple effect" drove wages of the highest skilled foremen to stagnation from 1983 to 2003 at least. I know from experience. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't build your own house, all trades, you don't deserve one, and can rot in the street as a target for cars. That would take care of overpopulation, too.

wrong Johnny the homelessness in this country has nothing to do with
immigrants living 60 to a house. The housing market the past 15-20yrs
has become less affordable for moderate to lower income families.
Cities are tearing down apt complexes and housing units and replacing
them with high-priced condos...people are evicted and have no where
else to go. Trailer and Mobile parks are being gobbled up by developers
to build bigger high priced houses. The feds haven't raised minimun wage
in 10 years, I believe it is still at $5.50 an hour, the States took the
initiatives themselves and raised it.

public funds are not going to illegals they're being used to subsidize the
greed and gluttony of the big corporate, oil and pharmaceutical giants
to ensure campaign contributions for their next elections.




in case you forgot Steve this is a country BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE...we all pay taxes to the Federal Gov't so that these monies can be used to fund programs and services that are a BENEFIT TO ALL AMERICANS.

why don't you complain about defense contractors ripping of your tax dollars charging $5,000 for a hammer.

Denni - you still didn't answer my question, specifically, what would you do for the homeless mentally ill who are living on the streets? Very specifically, what, that they don't already have access to? I don't want the discussion to lead to stop subsidizing big business, etc., I would like to read your plan about specifically how you would help the homeless mentally ill population, that isn't already offered.

AGAIN show me where any of your ideas are called for in the constitution.......They are not. BTW your income tax does NOT go to pay for the things you are talking about...It is stolen from you ILLEGALLY and used to pay the interest on the national debt. They borrow money from the fed.....pay for their programs and then steal from you to repay the loan.
You are also wrong about the country being by the people for the people etc etc..it is a GOVERNMENT byn the people and for the people....WE are supposed to be the bosses yet we cower and quake in fear from them.....ALSO why on earth would you want to turn over 7% of the U.S economy to the governmeny when they DO things like pay 5 grand for a hammer? Also you try to make it sound like a lack of compassion on my part...do you have an accountant? Does he do everything he can to reduce you taxes? Can't you see it? That's hidden money, money that was diverted for something else. Big money sent to some place they didn't want to document, or in fact stole for personal use, and couched in these outrageously inflated purchases.

be more than happy to take my cousin there...because we have looked
high and low for affordable programs for him to get into within a group home setting and have been turned away right and left because he isn't 'violent'.

Denni, I don't know what state you live in, but I'm in Texas.

I'm familiar with our MHMR system here, although I've worked mainly with the MR side (Mental Retardation) and not as much with the MH side, but I'm kind of familiar.

What does your cousin need? Are you looking for a residential "group home" facility, or are you looking for medication, or a case manager, etc.?

Is your cousin willing to accept treatment, or are you trying to get him help and he's resistant?

This sounds really painful for your familiy.
