For the first time in my life I'm leasing. We still have our 1992 Honda Prelude which we paid off after 5 years which is still running strong but showing some wear and tear. Mileage I think is around 135,000. Minor things have gone to hell, but we won't invest anything to fix it (i.e. right passenger power window won't open, A/C is problematic but works more often than not, some dings, ABS brake light stays on, and most recently, the speedometer is possessed). The car's overall shape/body however is in excellent condition and people cannot believe it's 15 yrs old as we took c/o her. We're leasing (for 3 yrs) a Nissan Murano now and I love the car but it's a friggin gas guzzler. The Prelude seems to run on air. So, do you prefer to lease, or buy? Seems the jury is out on that one overall.

I have bought all of mine, too many ways for a lease to bite you. Unless you want to trade often or need lower payments and watch the mileage, etc. it works out better to buy, IMO.

I don't like leases and don't particularly care for financing a vehicle either. I did with my wife's but we still bought it used at 50k miles. It's got over 100k now. No plans to trade up any time soon either. Still runs like scalded dog. Last lease was a Civic Si and I was lucky enough to pay it off before the end of the lease. Sold it though.

For my last 3 personal vehicles, I've bought used--really, really used as in over 100,000 miles. They're so beat up I don't have to worry about other doors or shopping carts hitting them.

There was one that was in pristine condition, but it was fiberglass and didn't ding. Totaled it once, shattering the taillights and bending the trunk, but the body sprung right back out to normal. I paid the total fee, got the insurance payment, had it fixed, completely repainted, and pocketed a couple of grand in change. I was a damn fool for getting rid of that one.

I am very lucky with this truck. As I said almost 250,000 on it and JUST RECENTLY had to do some major work on it. New tranny and clutch etc after 240+K miles. I am very pleased with it.
