What chills me to the bone, is that we are supposed to look-up to these nerds and trust our most precious children to their care. These kids will probably be traumatised for many years to come.

And teachers are supposed to be intelligent. Can you imagine what an outcry there would have been if a parent had done this to a child ?

God......I'm so mad !!

One thing about education in Britain is that the poor kids taking A-levels cannot win

The A-levels are taken by pupils of school-leaving age and the results go a long way in influencing would-be employers. For about the last 5 or 6 years , if the current year's rate of passes is up, the Education authorities and the nerdish press say it is because the exam questions are of a lower standard than the previous year. What they don't take into account is that jobs are harder to find and it is harder to find good University places ..and as a consequence it could be that pupils are taking exams more seriously and trying that much harder.

What I have noticed also is that some teachers threaten to go on strike just before the exams are due to be taken and cause as much disruption as possible.

I didn't like some of the things done by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but my God....she would have sorted out some of the dipsticks in Government and elsewhere. I believe it was she who told the jobless to "...get on your bikes and find work...."

Do you know that some aspects of history won't be taught in our schools because some religious factions may be offended ? For instance Moslems may be offended by the Crusades etc etc.

I have to smile at some possibilities, Namely:-
a) The crucifixion...Jews may be offended
b) The Spanish Armada...Spain may be offended
c) The Wars of the Roses...Yorkists/Lancastrians may be offended
d)The English Civil War...The parliamentarians/Royalists may be offended
e)Anything of a Christian nature...the Moslems may be offended
f)Evolution...Christians may be offended

And for goodness sake.....don't mention WW1 or WW2 !!!

I would be grateful if someone could paste the link to this as mentioned in my first posting. I've tried without success and am now getting annoyed with myself.
