I’m a Stephen Hunter fan, I like the whole series but his book “Point of Impact” was one of my absolute favorites. For years I thought that it would make a great movie… Then last year they made it into the movie “Shooter”. I was HIGHLY disappointed. I guess if you’ve never read the book and didn’t know what you’re missing it might have been an alright movie, but I hated it. It’s not even a patch on the book. It didn’t get the “Bourne Identity” treatment, where 10 minutes in the movie stops bearing any resemblance whatsoever to the book, but it was on it’s way.
I read a non-fiction book this summer called “Given up for Dead: America's Heroic Stand at Wake Island”. That was a good and informative book. After I read it I watched the movie “Wake Island” that was made in 1942. Of course, when it was made the Japanese held the island and all of the survivors were POWs. The film is full of historical inaccuracies and is (as one would expect) a propaganda piece. It’s an inspiring story and a battle that’s being forgotten, I’d like to see a movie about it.
