Has Pops been banned ?

Seriously, I cannot see any way around this except for ALL quotes from articles to be banned and just use ...briefly...our own words.

It would be a pain, but we'd get used to it and it would clear up all ambiguity and prevent decent minded folk from a banning.
I'm up for it.

Would it be possible to :

1) advise the poster the post in question ain't cutting it and that they have the choice to :
a) edit it themselves
B) allow the mod to edit
C) or agree to just delete the post

Of course if the poster in question refuses to cooperate; the option is the mods.

Choice can be good.

I agree with Iowanic:

1) advise the post's author of the problem;
2) allow a certain period of time for corrections to be made;
3) moderator edit or delete if author fails to take action promptly.

just a note... I tried to delete the modified posts and the forum software did not give that option.

also, editing or deleting the offending posts myself would have kept the whole thing un-noticed by anyone but me and the mod.

This leads to a bigger question, something that I've struggled with for a long time. I don't believe that a mod should ever edit another user's post. The problem is that if there is a serious problem with it, our only recourse is to delete it. Which would you prefer? (open question... I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this)

Personally I would prefer to edit my own post otherwise it does not become ' my ' post.
However, if left to the author and the author straightway goes away from the forum...holiday, sickness etc, the remaining post MAY still contain unacceptable material.In which case mods should have the facility to remove the offending material.

A thing that REALLY bugs me is when mods hide behind PMs . I find this grossly cowardly and should be brought out into the open. No wonder we react strongly to being banned for speaking in self-defence.

If someone insults me or tries to intimidate me regarding my postings by sending me endless PMs, I shall publish them on to the forum, or report the perpetrator.

Actually I now don't see a problem with the 2 sentence limit. You just have to be a little creative.
