Here's a bunch of pics of wildlife that I took on our recent vacation in the Cayman Islands:

A Green Iguana, which is an invasive species on the island. This guy was just over 3 feet long:

A Spiny Lobster in underwater construction debris (the debris is blown out to sea by hurricanes and such):

A Brown Eel (we think)... this shot was really hard to get as the little guy didn't want to show his face:

A baby Stingray:

Nassau Grouper:

Bluestriped Grunts

Blue Iguana (one of the most endangered species on the planet!)

Grass Snake

Unknown Frog/Toad (any ideas?)
Image

Hermit Crabs (caught by my kids at night)
Image

Stingrays (including me feeding squid to one)

Barracuda

School of Tang

Brain Coral

Scorpion Fish (very poisonous, supposedly... only found that out after taking this closeup shot)

All photos were taken by me over the last week. Enjoy!

Those are great pics, Josh! So you went to Stingray Island... is that what it is called? Did you only go to Grand Cayman or to Cayman Brac? My favorite place to stay is on the north side of Grand Cayman across the Bay from Seven Mile Beach. Did you go to the Botanical Gardens?

It looks like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing with us!

We rented a house near Rum Point/Cayman Kai, which is on the north shore of the island. See map below:

We did got the Botanical Gardens and yes, many of the stingray shots were taken at the sandbar at Stingray City.

No wonder that Iguana is endangered. Seems they like road beds. What type of camera for the underwater shots? Came out good ,compared to mine. BTW, do the lobsters make those underwater nests themselves. They don't look natural or maybe one mans garbage is a lobsters treasure. Don't know what the toad is named but I could come up with a few names and none of them would be preceded by the adjective CUTE.

That is it! I like to stay at the Pools on Cayman Kai. I even went on my honeymoon there.

Those pics are great, awesome and very nice josh! I'll surely have to try The Country Flame next trip down. And I like to experience and stay at the ocean on Cayman Island… \:D/
