Products such as milk and cheese are not the only yield produced from cows in California. Methane is also a byproduct of cows. Since methane gas has 20 times the potential than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas, we must capture this gas instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. We can use this methane gas to fire up generators and produce electricity. This is being done on California dairy farms with the use of methane digesters breaking down cow manure. In the thriller novel, Green Power, set in California this is exactly what the protagonist does. However, when an epidemic breaks out pointing to the methane digesters as the cause, the safety of this alternate source of energy is questioned.
What other novels fit into the new genre of environmental thrillers?

The methane from bolvines would be useful as fuel, but how neccasary it is to do so could be debated. At one time, north America had 60 million bison, I don't recall anyone stating we had a global warming problem at that time. Also, I recall termites contribute as much as any other critter.

Since everyone is concerned about our environment and global warming, a new subgenre in thrillers has surfaced. It’s been called environmental, enviro or eco thrillers. Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear” might fit into this category. However the recently released action filled thriller, Green Power, truly belongs to this new subgenre. Going green and bioterrorism are at odds with each other in this novel.
Again, for purposes of discussion, what novels do you feel fit into this subgenre?

I can't think of many, though Ann Vole hereabouts seems to take a interesting take on it.

I did notice we seem to have traditional big business=Bad guys in the plot. We got a thread discussing the bad guys in such stories.

How was it reached these folk would be the bad guys? What's the militia connection?

Iowanic; I believe you looked at my synopsis on my website. So to answer your question, I'll go more into my book ,Green Power. My antagonist, Dirk Hendrickson, is a former Viet Nam vet who formed the militia with some Nam comrades. He was also the head of security at Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant. After Rancho Seco closes, he blames my protagonist, Ray Pendleton, for the lost of his job. This gives him the motivation to go after the professor.
