King’s world house is still a damn slaughterhouse, because humanism doesn’t challenge the needless confinement, torture, and killing of billions of animals. The humanist non-violent utopia will always remain a hypocritical lie until so-called “enlightened” and “progressive” human beings extend nonviolence, equality, and rights to the animals with whom we share this planet. Wasn't the folk who shot Bambi's mommy pouchers, in the original story? They were certainly poor shots....I've never been on a deer hunt, which featured that many shots, NEVER.

Was Walt Disney a vegan, me wonders?

you're right, Ante...same old, same old. ARA's refusing to directly answer serious questions that reveal holes in their logic, common sense and the most basic 'real world' applications.

Regarding Hunting accidents....how does hunting compare to other activities people engage in?

Let's look at same stats:

Soccer is 8 times more likely to cause injury then hunting.
Cheerleading? 7 times.

Tennis? Twice as likely to cause injury....

What's causing sports injuries? Let's have a look:

Basketball---13.8%
Jogging---8.2 %
Golf.....1.4%
Hunting....1 %

Now what are the odds that such hunting accidents can lead to death?

Odds a youth between the ages of 6 and 15 will be killed while hunting in a given year?
1 in 200,000.
In 2002, a estimated 20.6 million people hunted in america and 93 of these people were killed.
In 2001, 1.8 million played organized football; resulting in 21 deaths.
The rate of death in organized football is twice that of hunting.

In 2002, 173 children 14 years and younger were killed in bicycle-related accidents.

Another note; fatal firearms-related accidents among both children and the population as a whole has fallen steadily; though the % of the population owning firearms hasn't fallen.

What about all those innocent bystanders being mowed down by the zillion by the hunters?

A nonhunter is 20 times more likely to be killed from stinging insects then a hunter.

We could bring in the discussion whether granting someone a driver's license or a hunter's license will result in more deaths, but I think we all know the answer to that: it's not even close.

A nation run by serial killers

"The cold hard fact of the matter is that not only are the vast majority of politicians under the thumbs of powerful serial killers, but are themselves serial killers... The fact that their victims are non-human does not alter the fact that they have no compassion, revel in bloodshed, derive pleasure from another being's suffering, and practice serial killing as a form of entertainment."...

Certainly is a long artcle!

I'm too sleepy right now: I'll read it in full this afternoon.
I might even post this at another site: i'd be interested to see what sort of comments it'd draw.

The writer seems very talented.

Here's my 'quick' review regarding Anthony Marr's 'America sucks because I don't like it' or whatever he titled it....

1) What makes his critera for 'national-greatness' so neato? He's entitled to his own standards, of course. He isn't very convincing about why anyone else should be following those standards, though.

2) 'Democracy means majority rule....'
Oh, boy. You'd think someone would have told him America isn't a democracy.

3) All the usualle ARA 'Buzz-words' get tossed out:
'Companion animals'
''Trophy hunters--'shooting anything that moved'
'Seal Massacre'
'Serial killers'

4) The usualle ARA "All hunters are the same' routine get's used:
'They revel in bloodshed, derive pleasure from another being's suffering...'
Same old, Same old.

5) referring to animals... 'Humans are essentially the same."
You bet ya....

6) 'Hunters; all armed to the teeth"
For bow-hunting? That's real believable....

7) 'Only .8 % of New Jersey population hunts'
No mention of how many non-hunters support hunting, though.
Classic ARA BS.

8) 'The solution is to make the coucil anti-hunting'
Of course! Why didn't we think of this? :-

9) This I found a laugh: He goes to a local reporter, mumbles god knows what regarding a bow-hunt......then complains it's lying to the people when he's ignored?
Jeez. Didn't see that one coming, did we?

10) Regarding the media, he believes the entire nation is 'exceptionally right wing.'
Maybe he's comparing our media to North Korea's. I Guess it'd seem rather right wing then.

11) And we get a peek again at the in-fighting among ARA's, to whit:
The complaining of a certain ARA-type's salary. Apparently; there's a line past which even ARA's shouldn't be allowed to earn.
The writer is a bit vague why that's so and where the line should be drawn. If I were to take a guess, I would say anyone making more money then him is in the wrong.

12) He does get some things right about the abuse of the environment. Kudu's to him for that.

Closing remarks:

He is a very gifted writer.

The oddest thing: he reminded me of Prez. Obama.
A remarkably extraordinary person.....doing a remarkably ordinary job.
