You guys don't get it... the issue isn't how many people are getting it now, but how it will mix in with the other flu strains for our normal flu season in the fall/winter. Go back and check out the site now, as the numbers of people in the USA who have it are climbing rapidly. Yes, the severity of the flu is not as intense as, say, avian flu, but it is highly, highly contagious.

The "perfect storm" of flu is to have this strain mix with the "normal" flu, which currently kills 36,000 Americans every year in the fall (which is what many doctors are predicting will happen) and then you have a very contagious flu that mixes with a more severe flu. That packs a pretty hefty punch.

While you all think everyone is hyping this, it is essential that scientists understand how this flu spreads and in what patterns, so that if a more serious (ie: recombined) strain comes along, we as a society know how to react and where to attempt to head it off. I believe that the media has not actually talked about this enough, as is indicated by all of the cases that are being reported late in their cycle.

Go check http://flutracker.rhizalabs.com and see how it has been spreading over the past week. This is way bigger than some invention of the media.

I get it fine and quite frankly don't have a problem with less people in the world. The process by which that happens is, of course, always regrettable, but the end result pans out better for the planet and whoever's left.

To even think that someone could spout such evil nauseates me.

The best physician I had.....and who saved my life BTW..... was the father of a daughter who suffered terribly with the human version of the disease. He resigned so he could care for her 24/7 until she died abt 2 years later.
He then committed suicide.

People who flippantly or otherwise wish such disasters on the World are not fit to live...or even call themselves human beings IMO.

My guess, offhand, is that he'll now claim he's just quoting Carlin, so he's good to go, since all he did was post it. Not REALLY his thought, at all, don't ya know.

I think George Carlin might have been into human flesh and guts. He would spice it up with black humor and satire. However, people whose minds are full of hate and no much else, who take every opportunity to personally attack those who they do not like, wouldn't understand this.

I gave up ages ago bothering to try to understand Ante or any of his acolytes.
Their messages have long since lost their freshness or potency....rather like the food the freegans scavenge in the dumpsters they frequent.

It's all I hear about these days - television, radio, newspaper, work, home ..... I can't seem to get away so i'm wondering how the media could possibly talk about it anymore than it is.

How do other flu strains recombine? I'm sure they've done some mixing in the past? I mean, I get that scientists need to track it and understand it as much as possible but it does seem hyped. Maybe I am de-sensitized, especailly when the killer bees failed to show up! Not being sarcastic here, just wondering ....

And Josh? ... it's genesis? your insights?
