Howdy all!
I'm Iowanic; I live in Iowa(surprise) and come from a long line of fanatic campers hikers and hunters. I've been keeping tabs on this site for some bit. I never thought too deep on the animal rights movement previous; just seemed rather weird. But I stumbled upon this site and have started to think it's really quite interesting.

I'm single, share a house or rather, am allowed to live in a house by my wonder-cat, Ki-Ki. I'm a erstwhile writer(Nothing published yet. Grrr!) and work 3rd shift in a grocery store. This is the first site I've joined so if I goof up a bit, sorry. It's new to me.

Word of warning: at work I'm known as 'curious George", because I ask a stream of questions about everything under the sun, or moon, for that matter.

So here we go!

Welcome, pull up a keyboard and ask away. Just be advised you may not get answers you like or that will always make sense from everyone.

As Jhawk said, keep your sense of humor and an open mind and you will be fine.

What's it like in Iowa? I'm from S. Fla. I picture it wide open spaces, lots of farmlands, 1 gas station.

Make that a very high priced gas station!

I live in a fair sized city now(Fair sized for Iowa) but I grew up in a little town, surrounded by corn/soybean fields. I could go out in the backyard and see for miles(Till the corn came up). Some guys were allowed days off from school, to help their family either plant or harvest. Now the thing is riverboat gambling; it's the city's main attraction. The fields are disappearing as more and more houses are built. Can someone tell me how is anyone gonna eat if we do away with all the crop land. I have someone at work, he still helps his father on the farm. He tells anyone interested in farming to forget it; it's a dying business.

The temperature was 94.3 today. It may be even hotter Sunday.

Like most Iowans; I'm still waiting for the really hot weather to arrive.

I personally like having you here, if that counts for anything.
You are one of the sweetest, most kind-hearted people I have met here.

You are coming up on three years, Iowanic. I looked all over from your intro on to today, and found nothing about the one who is hogging the forums and kind of ruining the place---greencarz. Is it mothy in another form??? What do you think old pal?
