Hello everyone,

I'm a producer/director living in Texas, and I found this board through a search engine.

I'm in no way an expert on anything green. (Well maybe just among my friends, they call me "crunchy," but I don't see it that way.)

So, I'm glad to have found this forum so that I can learn more and become crunchy granola!

Really, it wasn't until we had kids that the need to go organic and green became a REAL focus for my wife and me, and that's why we do this anyway right, for the kids.

I've rambled enough, no credentials or titles to list. I look forward to interacting with most if not each of you.

I don't know why organic is thought to be so green. If they don't use pesticides, herbicides and petro-chemical fertilizers, that's good for the ground water and surface water.
The biggest thing you could have done environmentally was have one or none with kids. We are so grossly overpopulated nearly everywhere in the world, especially Texas. One or none helps reduce future depletion and pollution, while 2 is for status quo at overshoot, and more is plain stupidity and ruin for future generations.
You will find it is the root of all environmental problems, and now, and in the future, economic problems.

I was kinda bit concerned with organic food. Yeah, oftentimes they are associated with being green. When you buy organic food then you are environment friendly already and all but whenever I heard organic it is something that has no pesticide involve upon production, right? it is just planted and harvest the normal way without using any enhancement for it to grow fast. But in the market when I bought organic rice I was surprised that there are so many kinds of organic rice. Now, I'm wondering if they are all really organic when some nutrients are already taken away in some of them.

Interesting how the advent of children prompted your awareness of organics. Presumably because you love your children and want a quality life for them. I appreciate your earnestness in that regard - wanting the best for your children and I imagine, also, that you would like to educate your children to be intelligent, compassionate human beings who can get along in this society despite the corruption inherent in it.

. .... Can we raise children to be alert to the inequities, ugliness, and dirt while also keenly aware of the beauty of it all and in each human, flower, blade of grass, animal, etc.?

In the meantime, we are doing this not only for our kids but also for ourselves and each other and each other's kids. We ARE one another.
