I got a message about someone trying to sign up and when I checked it looked like Josh has not been here for a couple of weeks or so. Is there that much of a delay in getting signed up now?

Far too infrequently... I'm trying to figure out exactly what to do with this place. The main problem at this point is that I have moderation turned on for new users, which keeps a ton of spam from showing up on the site (that's good) but also means that I have to slog through all of the spam to find the few real posts that are comingled.

I probably need to recruit some volunteer moderators who would help with that. I don't think the overall police-state kind of moderation that we used to have was very productive, so I wouldn't be looking for that type of help.

Are you considering shutting this place down, JosH?

I had also PM'd Josh on the new person (Jettrout) and in his reply he mentioned that he might tweak the settings to make it less cumbersome for him. I think if he is looking at that there may still be some life left in the forum yet.

I have been told the backlog of posts waiting for approval have been resolved and should not be as much of an issue getting new posts now.

Nah, I'm not gonna shut the place down any time soon. I've had my thoughts about it, of course. Any suggestions for sprucing the place up are welcome.

There has been the suggesstion of Iowanic and a bath, which may do wonders for the place .... but not much for those involved.
