Also I hate the clothes, handbags, drugs, porn, game stuff, shoes, kitchen upgrades, web services, travel info, roofing services, and juck the spammers believe is their right to clutter any public site with ads to hawk in some fashion.

With over 19,000 posts that must be the most delayed 'Introduction' on any internet forum - ever!

I'm on another forum - or I was - re animals. I think the lady who ran the site must have died or been taken seriously ill, because she is AWOL. The site has been flooded with spam. I'm talking hundreds of spammers! Every section is full with spam merchants.
An eye-opener as to the behind-the-scenes pressures on internet forums.

Yet, I don't know anyone who has bought from such people, though I guess some people do, though why????

Well, thank you, Wayne. I did not know that this was such a widespread phenomenon. I used to hate getting spam emails, but most of that is taken care of for my email now. Obviously, there are far too many sales people on Earth. Certainly one of the first effects of overpopulation, the imbalance between those that produce and those that don't. It would be nice to catch them and use them as legal target practice and followed by red worm composting.

Have a great time! My first big rifle at 15 was a 300 Weatherby to match may Dad's new custom one. Shooting knocked me back on one leg and three shots gave me a sore shoulder. So I got a Remington 30.06 auto that I could put three bullets in a dime at 100 yds. My Dad kept the Weatherby Custom, and eventually got a 22 version to match. It ended up destroying too much deer meat. Others copied him. One blew a deer's entire behind the front shoulder off as it ran from him. Another, got a "second eyebrow" as he shot one and blew out half its ribs. Hospital and stitches, and he was a big strong man.
My Dad used it for years hunting moose in Canada. We grew up on that, deer, wild fish varieties, ducks and geese. Beautiful gun until he sold it shortly before he died in 1987. I wish that I wasn't too disabled to hunt. I'm not wheel chair bound, so can't get into those special hunts. I would love to have one like my Dads, just to have on display next to my Ace Frehley Les Paul Custom. The new pads by the outfit that makes bow silencers would be great on one, and don't forget ear protection!
I think the 300 magnum could down an elephant, but remembered the old catalog with an impressive 600 Weatherby magnum for Rhinos and Elephants. I don't think they make them anymore. A lot of synthetic stocks now. My Dads was the custom carved, inlaid ebony striped, and checkered select oak. As usual, the bluing was thick and superb. He once had it jam at sub sub zero temperature when a 1600 lb moose charged him(nostrils smoking like a freight train) after being lung hit at 600 yds. He finally heart shot it and it dropped and slid to a stop 10 feet in front of him. He learned to use graphite. I was a strong 16 year old who had lifted weights a year, and could not lift any of the quarters, or its ugly head he had to bring home (but way too heavy and big for a wall mount in our house, so settled for the rack that did not do it justice).

Mine has an adjustable synthetic stock with a pistol grip and a Burris 50mm 6 X 24 scope. The stock is supposed to have a built in recoil suppression, but I will be finding that out the hard way.

I really want to get a good .50 cal but I cannot justify spending that kind of money on a semi-automatic like I would want. A bolt action would be OK, but those are not easy to find around here either. I did find an M2 once, but the idea of mounting it in the front yard was not something my wife wanted for some strange reason. I thought it would keep the door to door salesmen coming by to a minimum and keep the HOA at a nice distance too.

How was the recoil, Wayne? I went to their site and the one I had that was $700 is now $2,300, and no more of the really big bores. Still can get customized like my Dad's was, if you've got $4K!
