" Many women who develop breast cancer have significant vitamin and mineral deficiencies. US research has shown deficiencies of selenium and zinc increase risk, while 72 per cent of US women with breast cancer were shown to be vitamin C deficient and 78 per cent to be deficient in vitamin B-12. US research also showed that women with low blood levels of vitamin E were 500 times more likely to get the disease, the tocotrienol variants of vitamin E being far more preventative than the tocopherol variants. Like vitamin E, long-chain omega-3 has been shown to keep breast tissue less dense. Women with the highest blood levels of omega-3 have the lowest levels of breast cancer. Long-chain omega 3 is principally obtained from oily fish and taking fish oils. Some can convert from plant short-chain omega 3. Women with the lowest blood levels of vitamin D have more breast cancer, and survive less."(from the original post's link, not a hack) I give myself and my wife not only these but other vitamins and herbs for heart and artery health, and generally cancer preventative effects (like turmeric, grape seed extract, and saw palmetto for me). Ganoderma Lucidum capsules, tea, and coffee with it mixed in. Plus I make Essiac (from optimallyorganic), or Guardian Spirit tea (from iherb.com) and we drink 3 Ozs. each morning. Also, "Age Essentials" from Vitalmax. Not smoking or drinking and very little red meat intake, along with very low bad cholesterol intake, with moderate exercise when possible. Plus we got our colonoscopies. Too many friends and relatives are aging too fast, and too many are getting cancers and dying. Mainly from insufficient anti-oxidants in their diet, smoking and drinking. Exposure to agent orange and having HepC (I take the remarkable Liv52 for that, from Amazon.com), were aggravating factors. Prevention is most important, along with early detection. A friend waited too long and is going at this time. Two are recovering using essiac and gano after surgery. Yearly mammograms for women are only 50% effective from what I've read, and my wife has said she would refuse radical surgery if she got it. So preventative nutrition is necessary. Also, do not eat too much: Suggest Cancer Preventive
Cancer could be drastically reduced if people were not such gluttons and if increasing income and food supply did not overfeed the average person.
This way to reduce the second most common cause of death is advocated in an authoritative publication of the Nutrition Foundation by Dr. Harold P. Rusch, University of Wisconsin professor of oncology, which is the study of tumor growth, and editor of the journal, Cancer Research.
The difficult part about applying this preventive measure is that people would have to be hungry most of the time, or as Dr. Rusch puts it:
“In the opinion of the writer, there is no doubt that a drastic reduction in the incidence of almost all forms of cancer would be achieved if the caloric intake were reduced sufficiently to decrease the weight of all people to slightly below the accepted optimum.” Suggest Cancer Preventive

Hence, the low cancer among Chinese. Low protein and calcium intake keep them smaller than would be normal, too. Their CPPPD for sedentary starvation death is <800 while westerners it is closer to 1000+.
