Haven't given much thought to this thread lately....though maybe we can just try a few basic outlines and see what we can do from there....

Zeta: Long years and long rotation= Very hot summers/ off set by the following very cold/dark winters.

If I were a critter there, migration is something to seriously consider.
Now: What sort of features benefit critters who must migrate?

herd instict is good even for very large animals ... think elephant migration to flocks of swallows

Another little take on migations...

Continet positions, I.E: distance from the planet's equator.
Size of said continets may work into things as well.

To whit:

A small coninet(Say; just a bit over a million square miles or 50% larger the Alaska) may not have much room for land-living critters to migrate.
Perhaps in such a setting; only flying/swimming critters would migirate in or out. The land based critters on a small continet may have to depend on 'live-thru' the hot summers' cold winters tactics.

Which can bring up all sorts of critter-types...

Here's a thought that came to me....

Many types of plantlife on earth use the sugar in their fruit to attract varis critters to spread said plant's seed about.

Perhaps Zetan plants could use the same basic theme but with a twist:
What if they used shade during the heat of day and/or warm collected for the cold of night to attract critters to spread their seed?

A thought:

Plants and animals forming a co-dependant relationship: the plants providing 'fur' for said creature(Growing on or perhaps even out of back....)

sloths come to mind as they turn green with a unique form of algae which helps hide them and performs some cooling and heating functions with the thermal storage in the moisture layer outside of their fur's insulation.
