It's the best exercise you can take and anyone of any age or weight can do it...

Except for someone with the lower 5 discs gone and bottom two vertebrae deteriorated and softened with pinching of the sciatic nerve. Then there are those with degenerative hip and or knee disease. Swimming is better.

My problem is fibromyalgia where contracting muscles without movement causes an increase in pain. Walking during a bad spell of fibromyalgia causes pain in many parts of the body and stairs are worse. Swimming is purely resistive so the muscles are always moving during contractions so I can exercise a lot even with the worst cases of fibromyalgia. Because of this, the second thing I will build into my house will be an indoor swimming pool (but it will start out as an outdoor one against the basement that will be covered later by the greenhouse to make use of the highly humid air in the swimming room). The first thing I will build is a sound studio and vibration-proof sound stage (same room). The pool will have a glass wall on one side and be shaped in a triangle (or specifically an inverted, 3-sided pyramid shape) for use in filming special effects such as outer space scenes or for filming aquatic animals. This shape also is the smallest shape that allows the most options for aquatic exercise. It will also be incorporated in the thermal energy storage strategy of the energy-self-sufficient building.
