The USA are IRA supporters, terrorists who killed many men, women and children. Truth hurts.

I am sure that would be a surprise to Presidents Clinton and Reagan.

Their cause has always been a united Ireland, but much of the cash that funds republican groups comes from the United States. So how will they fare amid the new crackdown on terrorism?

It took the attacks on 11 September to bring the full horror of terror attacks home to many Americans. And their sense of outrage is compounded by a feeling that this is a war on terror that cannot be won easily.

You are more confused than usual since you cannot seem to differentiate between the USA and people living in the country. You claimed the USA was supporting terrorism which is the country ...... ](*,)

You wouldn't allow groups to fund raise for Muslim terrorists. I believe the word I'm looking for is complicit.

Where is your proof the US government supported in any way the fund raising for the IRA?

You said the USA which does usually mean the government in such discussions. Perhaps you could try to write what you really mean.

"Some people living in the US" rather than "the USA" for example. It makes you less trollish looking.

Where is your evidence the government allowed the support of terrorists? Where is your evidence that any significant portion of the US population supported terrorists?

You are becoming more and more of a troll.

You know, if you ignore the fools (there's even a built-in option that helps), they go away.

Toy with them, maybe, but debate them? Really?

It is? Sounds like folly to me.

Actually, fodder.

Howard Zinn cuts through this curricular fog: "War is terrorism ... Terrorism is the willingness to kill large numbers of people for some presumably good cause. That's what terrorists are about." Zinn demands that we reexamine the premise that war is necessary, a proposition not taken seriously in any high school history textbook I've ever seen. Instead, wars get sold to Americans -- especially to the young people who fight those wars -- as efforts to spread liberty and democracy.

No, terrorists do not care about killing people, they care about intimidation in order to get their way. Killing people is one way of doing that. Threatening to kill people is another way. The difference is the main target of war is the force of the opposing government and that governments ability to wage war. The terrorists do not primarily attack those forces because those forces are able to inflict losses on the terrorists. Terrorists are the minority and cannot take the extended losses without major damage to their cause.

No sane person ever wants a war, but no sane person can allow an insane person to win just because they are willing to kill to get their way.
