I have some... they are annoying as heck. When I was younger, I got a traumatic hit to the head from a golf ball, which likely caused these floaters. They are most noticeable in my right eye, where I have two black dots, and a few strands.

Do you have floaters?

My wife has been having a bad bout of them lately. As you age the eye changes shape and recently the change has caused a couple of very large floaters (the doctor can see them without a magnifier) which are being pulled by the changes. The retina in the same eye is also being pulled causing light flashes in addition to the floaters. The first week was a doctor visit each day, then every other day, and now once a week.

Got punched in the face a few years ago, landed on one shoulder with my feet flying in the air. That was followed several years later by a wild overhand volleyball serve smacking me dead in one eye. Everyone yelled "look out!". I turned my head just in time to see a flash of black.

Long story short, floaters ever since. Florescent lighting wreaks havoc with them. Eye doc says they're okay but that it looks like an asteroid field in there.

I've found that they greatly subside (I have to look really hard to find them) when I eat right, drink my V8, and take my Flintstones. Some guys at work with them swear by Ocuvite, but I've yet to try it.

Oh yeah, hydration. Don't forget that. If you're not peeing every hour, you're not drinking enough!

I've had the damn things since I can rember.

I am hoping medical science will come up with a "cut a hole in the eye and give it a good flush out" opperation.

They cut such a hole to do my wife's laser eye treatment so why not for the basic oil change?

I always kind of thought it was the sun somehow magnifying stuff in the air, so I could see tiny particles like I was looking at them through a microscope Apparently not. If the inside bit of your eye (retina?) become detached a little, it can cause floaters. Prob best to get it checked out asap just to be on the safe side, could be an indicator of something bad.
